Camel (Camelus) - a genus of large mammals from the subfamily Camelinae within the camelid family (Camelidae). Physiologically adapted to live in a dry and hot climate, they are used as utility animals in many countries. Camels are used as mounts, pack animals, a source of milk, wool, meat and leather, as well as for entertainment purposes (circuses, camel races). In the past, they were also used for transport purposes because they could carry loads weighing 220-270 kg.
