I'll start by saying I love Lumines, it's one of my favorite game series' of all time and I have a lot of fond memories of playing the first and second game as a kid. I ate up the remaster on Nintendo Switch a few years back too, so if purchasing it AGAIN on here says anything about how much I love this game, idk. Anyways, despite my admiration, I can't recommend it. Not on here. Go play it somewhere else.

Zero analog support. It's my fault for not looking into it before buying, but to be fair it wasn't among any assumptions or expectations of mine that this game would have a problem like that.I know it's kind of crazy that such a small factor would completely alter the gameplay, but it does. I've tried using the default controls [D-pad] for it on my gamepad, but they are erratic, jittery, and inaccurate. It's BIZARRE. This is nothing more than frustrating and inconvenient, so I had figured ah, I'll just switch to analog controls cause that's what I originally used. And there's no option for it. It won't read any analog input, nothing. You can't change the controls in steam settings either. I mean, you can, but the game won't give a ♥♥♥♥ and simply will not let you use them.

You know what's even weirder? It lets you use the analog stick when traversing the menu! But as soon as you enter actual gameplay, it completely keels over. I've tried using other gamepads but nothing changes. It's insane how this was overlooked, considering the switch version was updated early on to include analog support. But despite complaints from others on discussion boards, I guess they never bothered to do anything about it. 5 years later, I don't expect they will. And that's a shame, because it turns an otherwise fantastic puzzle game into an unnecessarily frustrating and clunky one. No amount of controller remapping is able to make up for the lack of analog support.

I guess I'm just sad and disappointed about it. I've semi-compromised by using keyboard controls, but like... come on. You can't really play for more than an hour before your hand starts to hurt. It's just ridiculous. So yeah, go play the switch version instead of this one.

[on an unrelated note, I'm still very sad that they probably won't remaster Lumines II. i still wish they would]

I jumped into this game with my mind open and my nostalgia goggles tucked away but I was still disappointed man. I really wanted to like this but I gotta say the bosses really ruin this game. I feel like I'm fighting buggy ♥♥♥♥♥♥ dark souls bosses, not that I've ever played dark souls. You get one shot to beat a boss or you have to start the battle completely over. No health, no jumping back in, you just gotta stock up on lives and cross your fingers the game will spare you every ten tries. It's the most frustrating thing because the slightest thing a boss does sends you flying off screen with no chance of recovery, and its just over. I swear, watching people fight them on youtube trying to figure out what tf i'm doing wrong makes it look like a totally different game. the actual stages are all fine and dandy, good monkey mechanics. It's just these ♥♥♥♥♥♥ bosses man... i don't recommend this, despite the fact i'm probably going to try finishing this game anyways. i mean get it if you want and are open to your 2015 anger issues resurfacing, just god save me man, and god fix these bugs or gamer brain rot or whatever the ♥♥♥♥ hell ive cometh upon

oh yeah and the party games kinda stink
