Pros
-Fun party game if not taken seriously
-unique map design
-high skill gap that makes you study the ghosts behaviours and forces you to put yourself in potential danger so you can't always play safe
-the maps have a unique feel to majority of them such as use of the enviroment. ghosts will throw items around the map, play instruments, turn on taps, turn off power box, open doors and make the car alarm go off. all of these details makes the game have great immersion and horror
-Daily challenges for maps adds replaybility and the ghosts unpredictable patterns
-the maps geometry can change around (hiding spots) so you can't always hide in the same places.
-the game forces you to have knowledge on how the ghosts work if you want to play on higher difficulties. often people with hundreds of hours can struggle at times, which adds to the replayblity. higher difficulties are fair for what is changed such as less hiding spots and removal of sanity screen/activity.
-single player is actually enjoyable and a whole different experience. The game can actually be scary at times in single player and more challenging. other games similar to phasmophobia such as lethal company struggle in the single player aspect.
-the community for this game is pretty decent, often you'll find friendly people and maybe even make friends. so far I haven't noticed any cheaters yet. the community is somewhat friendly to newer players. at most you'll get kicked for being a low level. if someone realises mid match you're a low level they'll most likely laugh it off with you instead of giving you ♥♥♥♥ for it.
-the tier items add some more strategy to the game. if you prefer tier 1 thermometer over tier 3 for example you'll not bring it along with you. for majority of items there isn't 1 meta tier which is good and adds more variety.
-the custom difficulty adds more variety to the game
-you don't need friends to enjoy this game. you can enjoy single player and public lobbies
Cons
-some of the larger maps such as school or prison can be a pain in the ass to play because of how long it can take to find the ghost room and set up all equipment. often times you'll struggle during ghost hunts too due to the longer hallways when you're trying to run away, loop the ghost or hiding. playing larger maps in single player is just one huge headache. You can tell these maps aren't meant to be played in single player due to the way they're designed. even on nightmare mode I will leave prison/school matches in single player because of how boring it will get. it can take upwards of 10 minutes for me in single player to find the ghost room sometimes while running around with a thermometer in prison/school. Then you'll have to haul every piece of equipment to the room. To fix this problem I would make it so in single player you can hold another item in your inventory or make it so the flashlight doesn't count as a slot. the whole 4th inventory slot thing should be applied to single player in general. on smaller maps I still get bored with hauling items to the ghost room
-The sprinting Is way too short. you would think you're playing as a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ chainsmoker because your character can't run for more than 3 seconds. I would add another 2-4 seconds to the sprinting because it's just more of an annoyance than anything. this fault really shows in the larger maps as well, especially when trying to run away during a hunt. If you're out of breath then a ghost hunt starts often you'll get killed because of your character's inability to sprint.
-some of the ghosts can be inconsistent to their description. for example you'll have spirits or wraiths that will be overly aggressive. often they'll have the ai of a demon or revenant because of how often they'll start a hunt at high sanity.
-ghosts will sometimes refuse to show any evidence, start a hunt/event so you can't study their behaviours. as a result sometimes you'll wait for an unreasonable amount of time on professional difficulties or lower. this crack is most obvious on nightmare/insanity since 1 or 2 pieces of evidence can only be seen
-a lot of the time with the spirit box you'll try to speak to the ghost and it will never respond at all, then it'll turn out to be a yokai. I don't want the ghost to always respond immediately but its outrages that you'll have to ask the ghost around 50 times just for 1 answer (I'm not exaggerating with asking it around 50 times btw)
-In general the spirit box isn't as good as it use to be. the responses sound like an ai voice which cuts out constantly. Its impossible to understand what they're saying 95% of the time. one time I was playing the campsite map and the ghost said to me "leave this camp" but it sounded like "eat this ♥♥♥♥" I had to rewatch it on video because i couldn't tell wtf he was saying to me. the older responses was better because they had whispering (which was understandable) and the other sounded like an ai but it was understandable and didn't cut out. after a while you see the spirit box as a piece of evidence that you'll never use again in the match. whats weird is a huge part of the hype for this game was the spirit box in general and the "can you show me a sign?" questions. I find it weird the talking is nerfed. also when you ask for the ghost to show a sign it almost never happens anymore, even when you're in the ghost room.
-a lot of the maps look the same such as the homes and farm houses. quite often they'll play out the same
-I don't like the whole hiding evidence on higher difficulties which is why i avoid them since the ghosts can sometimes show no patterns.
8/10 game, just needs some reworks
