A very ambitious but flawed game. The parkour and free-running still feel great even 10+ years later. However, the combat and guns feel clunky and downright broken at times. The game tries to teach the player a variety of moves and disarming techniques, but it's much more effective to just click the mouse as fast as you can to punch. I love the atmosphere of the game. The colorful but sterile cityscape, mixed with the ambient and glitchy soundtrack make for a really unique setting. Yet, it often feels barren due to the complete lack of other human characters (besides the officers). It's very strange to be running through multiple office buildings with numerous floors and for there to be absolutely no one. The cutscenes aren't that great and look more like cheap flash animation. The plot was also a complete mess with certain plot points that I found to be interesting were never expanded upon (The whole Celeste being a traitor segment). The voice acting was hit-or-miss as well. That being said, I still enjoyed my time with Mirror's Edge. It really is just fun to run through levels and jump across buildings. It's incredibly short and doesn't overstay its welcome. Definitely pick it up if it's on sale.
