Fantastic roguelite experience!
PROS:
- Phenomenal map design. Each map feels different, and viusually is stunning
- Enemy design is neat; the enemies are unique and cool to shoot. They also have good variety between the environments as far as looks and how they mechanically look.
- Boss design is superb. They all do different things and just look badass. Each boss was exciting to see for the first time and seem sufficiently challenging.
- each one of the weapons are unique, and all seem perfectly viable. They’re all fun to use and make things fun to shoot.
- One of the most enjoyable soundtracks I’ve ever heard.
CONS:
- once you wrap up unlocking the gear items and such, and maxing out the skill tree, there just doesn’t seem to be much reason to keep running the same static run (in terms of the encounters and such) other than love of the game. There’s plenty of challenge modifiers to add, but I’m no masochist, and will not make it more harderer for the sake of it just being harder. Achievements, cosmetic unlock, and such aren’t enough to keep me going, but may vary for you.
- very minor bugs (enemies getting stuck in walls (you can easily sit there and wack the wall with your melee to kill them for however long that takes)).
- I may just be dumb, but some of the wordings for upgrades and such leave me confused with what exactly it is they do, but this is pretty minimal. One (again, very minor) example would be an upgrade for the Shadow power. It says that it “weakens” enemies, but I can’t really find anything that actually tells me what that is. Is it a damage debuff to the enemy? Do they do less damage, or take more damage, or both? What are the percentages. I feel like this is a very minor issue that may be nitpicking, but I really like knowing the intrinsics of what the abilities do, and seeing numbers makes my brain tickle.

TL;DR
Absolutely wonderful game well worth the price. Most of the issues are very minor qol things, or perhaps even me just being incredibly picky. It’s also a small project, so gotta cut some slack. I look forward to the future of this game, solid 9/10

I would rather insert a (early access) baseball bat covered in 10 grit sandpaper sideways into my rectum than play another 10 minutes of this game.

seismically enjoyable game. if you don't have this game and enjoy games in which you murder thousands of enemies on the behalf of democracy, you will enjoy this game

I truly do love this game. Through thick and thin, I've stuck around. Bungie has certainly had their ups and downs, but that doesn't discount how fun this game really is

however;
the new player experience does not give to a new player the love the game deserves. It is monotonous, confusing, and stupid. The mechanics of the game are complicated (albeit not as complicated as other games), and these tutorials do not present the knowledge needed to excel at the game.

the paid dlc is too much
to be fair, I have pre-ordered every dlc since the Taken King in D1, I personally don't really have a problem with it, but the $50 yearly DLC is too burdensome, and it sometimes results in a less than desired result. I hope one day we find a solid alternative while maintaining the quality storytelling that I do so enjoy.

All in all, if you are willing to shell out some money, and you have found yourself enjoying titles like Warframe or perhaps even Borderlands, you may very well enjoy your time here.

unless you play crucible. then you will *not* enjoy your time.
