Gearbox doing what gearbox do best. Rushed, buggy messes. Quality control is a joke, there was no play testing and if there was there was 0 attempt to fix any of the issues.

Ok, fall guys. A wipeout style party game. Really interesting concept and definitely unique.
What would be a fun game is made kinda hard to enjoy by some really janky physics, servers that can be kinda laggy, especially in modes that rely on grabbing others and if i'm being honest not very much content and what different content there is feels very very similar to the other game modes. There's also the fact that there's a pretty bad hacker problem which makes an experience that's fun for maybe the first few hrs into one that's fun until you get a hacker and leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth.

Some of my issues with the game really come through in a few particular modes.
Races have the players start in 4 rows so take for instance seesaws
If you start in the front row you can easily run through the track while all the seesaws are level and you have a free win. Now lets say you're in like the 3rd row. you're trying to jump onto the seesaw before the 3rd checkpoint, problem is that thing's completely flipped and is suddenly vertical so you try and balance the one you're on to wait until the next one balances out for you then the people from the one behind you get on your one and then hop onto the one infront of you, now they're across and the seesaw's vertical again. You end up right at the back because you either just sit there waiting for a chance to go forward that doesnt come or you suicide and ♥♥♥♥ over everyone else.

Tail Grab
3 modes. Solo, team and Finale
At the end of the timer any player that doesnt have a tail is elimianted. Solo has the tails distributed randomly between all players, teams has them split equally between teams and finale has one tail given randomly to one of the players.
They have a good like 3 min timer but because all that matters is if you have a tail when the timer hits 0 all the time until the last 30 sec or so is irrelevant and a huge waste of time.

Team games as a whole are frustrating at best and horribly one sided at worst. If you get eliminated is almost purely dependent on if your team is competent. This on its own isnt too bad until it's combined with games where there's 3 teams instead of 2. the second one team starts losing the other two do everything they can to keep that team losing so it just ends up a 16 v 8.

The short of this is it's a really cool concept and has potential but it lacks content, what content it has can get really repetative quickly, relies on random chance or just feels like pointless timewasting. Imo, if you're gonna spend £15 on a game pick up something else or if you are set on getting fall guys wait for a sale.

It's Portal + Quake + Halo
Controls feel incredibly precise and the portal mechanic feels almost 1:1 to Portal
The aiming feels as precise as you'd expect from an arena shooter, can shoot sniper without having to reload making it have some worth at short range.
Portalable spots are positioned well enough to where you dont feel like you're always being flanked and it's impossible to manage but also give enough options to allow impressive plays that are unique to this game.
Couple maps like Pantheon that feel a little too big and it's a shame that the 2v2 and FFA modes are locked to specific days but overall an incredibly unique idea that's been well executed and im glad to see the devs aint given up on it.

I picked this up on Christmas day of 2018 and since then i've pumped almost 200 hours into it and have kept coming back for more. Compared to others im still pretty bad at the game, i cant go winstreaking like others can and i know i've got a lot of things i need to work on but here's my take on the game.
I personally love the drawn look of the game and as that style goes it's been done incredibly well but that's really not the main attraction of the game. The hook for me comes in the fact that every run, while what deck you build is heavily influenced by rng, is winnable. You died to the book of stabbing with a deck with minimal block? you should have taken that block card it offered. The cultists damage scaling is out doing your block ability? Maybe you should have played that bludgeon.
While the runs are WINNABLE you cant force decks. Say you want to do a shiv build and the game is giving you poison cards, you have to run with poison. The skill of Slay the Spire comes in the players ability to adapt to the situation and figure out the optimal solution.

Do i recommend the game? yes, highly. it's my most played game on steam by like 100 hours. Am i going to force you at gunpoint to buy it if you aren't into deckbuilders and despise roguelikes? no, there'd be no point if you arent into it.

Before writing this i browsed the negative reviews and saw the sheer number that effectivly amounted to "I cant build a deck well enough" with 50 hours in or "I cant force the deck i wanna play" which is why I really do want to stress that it's going to take a long, long time to learn the ins and outs of this beautiful deck builder. If you do decide to buy the game then hopefully you get as much enjoyment as the thousands of others who've left reviews and I have.

Awesome take on a classic genre. Brings something new to the table that I aint seen anywhere else. Absolutely insane variety which enables some super fun combos.
Pacing ensures that unless you create an absolutly broken combo (like some people in the discord have managed to) there's always something that can kill you, no matter how invincible you feel while still giving you that feeling of power.

Pirate Rob has created an awesome game here and is continuing to improve the game every day. He's always in the discord taking suggestions and fixing bugs as they pop up. I've only got a couple hours in the game rn but i intend to sink in a lot more.
Cant stress this enough, if you like classic rpg roguelike dungeon crawlers and want a faster paced take on it then GET THIS DAMN GAME, I'll see you guys in the discord.

Picked up during summer sale, well worth the £10 it usually costs. good challenge and a good balance of punishing, fair, its increibly clear in your goal but there's also plenty of secrets which i really apreciate.
