The story of the killdozer revolves around the actions of Marvin Heemeyer, a resident of Granby, Colorado. In 2004, Heemeyer embarked on a destructive rampage using a homemade heavily fortified bulldozer, which he named the "killdozer."

The events leading up to Heemeyer's rampage can be traced back to his grievances regarding a zoning dispute. Heemeyer owned a muffler repair shop, and he believed that local authorities conspired against him to prevent him from expanding his business. Despite his numerous appeals and legal battles, he felt increasingly frustrated and powerless.

To exact revenge on those he believed had wronged him, Heemeyer spent the better part of a year modifying a bulldozer, armoring it with concrete and steel plates. The killdozer became a formidable piece of machinery with thick armor layered all around, making it impervious to gunfire and capable of causing significant destruction.

On June 4, 2004, he put his plan into action. Heemeyer entombed himself in the killdozer and embarked on a destructively determined path. He targeted several buildings he perceived as having contributed to his troubles, systematically demolishing them without regard for those inside.

The killdozer plowed through numerous structures, including the town hall, the library, and the homes of certain officials who had been involved in his zoning dispute. The rampage lasted for several hours as law enforcement officers and the National Guard struggled to stop Heemeyer's progress, eventually realizing their conventional weapons were ineffective against his armored creation.

After smashing through numerous buildings, the killdozer encountered a large basement, wedging itself tightly and immobilizing further movement. Rather than surrendering or giving up, Heemeyer took his own life inside the killdozer, leaving behind a trail of destruction and shock in Granby.

The story of the killdozer shocked the nation as news outlets reported on the incident. The incident raised intense discussions about the lack of legal recourse for citizens with grievances and the potential for extraordinary actions when individuals feel marginalized or mistreated by the system. Ultimately, the incident left a profound impact on the Granby community, forever etching the story of the killdozer in the annals of history.
