In the agreement, Finland lost 1/10, or more than 40000 square kilometers of territory, including 10% of arable land and 1/5 of industrial output. 12% of Finland's total population lost their homes and were deported.
The four islands in the Gulf of Finland, including Viborg and Rebach Peninsula, were forced to be ceded to the Soviet Union, while the Hanko Peninsula was leased to the Soviet Union as a naval base for a period of 30 years.
