This game was and still is hands down the best game I played this year & I never thought I'd say this but it pushed Chrono Trigger out of my top 5 favorites of all time. Aside from the very annoying performance issue (likely caused by Denuvo) & a somewhat rare bug (only happened to me 3 times out of many game closures) that leaves your screen black when trying to close the game while it's in fullscreen, the game was amazing in every area I wanted it to be & I couldn't put it down.

While I'm overjoyed to see Star Ocean return, it being one of my favorite series built on a love/hate relationship, I'm saddened to see that the collection of other games from tri-Ace, even outside Star Ocean, are not on steam.

"My Wishful Thinking"
Wanting to have remasters of older tri-Ace games on steam aside, I'd love to see this game get more love in the form of something like a DLC story addition (Welch mode?), dungeon(s), additional skills, battle trophies, beyond Chaos difficulty, or even themed costumes of characters from previous games with similar abilities.

This game was a blast and gets my vote for game of the year. Thank you to everyone who made this game possible!

This game is quite the trip, full of excitement, & a word of advice: don't ignore anything. There's a lot of secrets & the game only gets better the further you progress. You'll know by the 2nd True upgrade, trust me. Always remember to back track, you'd be surprised at what you may have missed the 1st time.

This game brought back many memories, I highly recommend giving it a try if you never have before.
I originally saw & played the DC version as a child when my family had a DC. I've personally bought this game at least 3 times (2x on PS2).
I'm very excited that it is getting an HD remaster & looking forward to doing another play through of this game as well as re-buying & playing Grandia in HD! I can't wait to see the improvements made to both games!

It'd be nice if there was a New Game+ option, but maybe only keep the weapons with 0 attack, stat boosts given to each character, & level/experience. Ahh what am I saying this is a review not a wish list!
