Okay, I played the free beta recently. While there HAS been notable improvements and even decent optimization. It is still a very rough game that needs further polish. The fact they even backtracked into the old systems they initially scrapped showed AT LAUNCH the hubris of a dev team who "knew best" for the community.

I am still having hard system crashes with my AMD RTX 9000 XTX. For some reason it spikes the GPU so hard and then cuts back the throttle. Rinse and repeat till the game explodes. I've even pulled up the specs, seeing the Board Power spiking to 420-480 watts. The ONLY WAY I could even make this game playable without crashing. Was to UNDERVOLT my GPU and tweak some of the game settings to make it playable. Even then, I still had crashes if I accidentally tabbed out or if I did something funky the game didn't like. Even while playing the game on my brother's NVIDIA 3080 Ti, the game hard crashed within an hour of playtime.

So with that said, I did certainly enjoy the game when it ran stable and without issue. However, there are still pressing matters that need to be tackled. Unreal Engine 5 sucks ass, they need to optimize the game better. Even high end cards struggle to run it without having a crash. As well perhaps fix the melee reach some of the zombies have. As well make the stunning effect more potent. I've recalled striking a zombie that still was able to swipe at me being un-phased entirely.

Better than launch BUT FAR from polished. Do better.

Really fun, just got through Episode One. There's a lot of replay value, especially trying to search for the secrets around the map. I would recommend this for anyone who likes these types of games.

LIGHTNING BOLT, LIGHTNING BOLT!

After spending hundreds of hours on this game and countless runs with and without my friends. Honestly, I believe this game has certainly earned the praise it has gotten. Crazy to think it came out many years ago as merely just a small sandbox. I'm glad to see where it ended up and what the future contains for it.

Even though I only have 18 hours total so far in the game, I certainly got my money's worth from it. The gun play, levelution, how the map can easily be war torn and only kept together by your team barriers, it's just so much much. Overall, for a simple shooter I certainly recommend it to other players who want a casual game to play.

Good game, clearly is showing it's age. The story is a bit generic, however it really was a fun shooter to kill time with. A lot of mechanics that you don't expect to see in a early 2010s FPS game, for that I think it was far ahead in it's time.

It's a very fun game, certainly brings back days from my childhood; Back when I played it on the xbox 360, but I do have some valid complaints. While some effort and time was surely put into the game, the optimization is ROUGH. There would be moments my frames would simply tank, even with taking the proper steps to ensure it ran without issue.

But aside from that, I have certainly enjoyed the experience of a bygone era.

Honestly, this is one of the few childhood memories that I still hold onto to this very day. I love the last stand, I'm glad I got to grow up along with it. I'm also glad that it is now on steam. Honestly for the 10 dollars? I've gotten more than my fair share of fun, all that's left is to 100% the game.

While the game is still rough around the edges; I think honestly for the time and invested effort to polish their own game, it may be worthwhile to play and enjoy. Personally, I do enjoy the game and it's combat. However, the servers at times can be awful in terms of desync and lag issues. But outside of that, this game is worth it!
