After coming back to this game after its full release, I can confidently say that Lunacid is a one-of-kind experience. I can't quite put it into words how this game made me feel while playing it. My short answer if you should buy this game is: Absolutely. You're missing out on one of the greatest indie games to come out of the past decade. If anyone is on the fence about the price point of the game, here is a honest pro/con list for Lunacid:

Pros:
- Choose to play as a Thief, Knight, Witch, Undead, Royal, Vampire, Cleric, Shinobi, or Forsaken. Each with varying starting stats and resistances that will make or break certain combat encounters.
- An impressive selection of upgradable weapons, spells (that vary in damage based on the in-game moon phase), and craftable items. Have you ever wanted to role-play a blind swordsman who can summon tornadoes? A Vampire, with a pet snail, who wields Death's scythe? Somebody who has a girlfriend??
- Lunacid boasts a compelling story. I was thoroughly impressed with the world setting and the multiple endings that you can get in each play through. The achievements are fun to hunt for too!
- Lunacid isn't your typical "souls-like" RPG with unforgiving mechanics. Lunacid is accessible for any person to play. Although, that is not to say that the game holds your hand throughout your travels.
- Each level introduces a new ecosystem with varying topography and enemy types. Do not expect to rampage through each area with the same build early on in the game.
- Secrets are everywhere. You definitely missed something, go back. Can you jump that high? Is there a full moon tonight?

Cons:
- There are clear ways to play the game in the most "optimal" way possible. It isn't hard to wander into an incredible spell or weapon during the mid-game that can carry you through the end boss. This is a minor gripe because you're encouraged to frequently switch up your playstyle. You just don't *need* to. Looking at you, Ice Tear.
- It is easy to get turned around frequently in certain areas of the early-game. However, the addition of Survey Banners and the compass has eased traversal a bit. This is most frustrating while looking for secrets.
- Lunacid's melee combat is underwhelming compared to its spellcasting system. Melee combat is fairly bland and is far outclassed, in terms of raw damage and range, by spells. Melee hitboxes can feel weird at times too, especially with certain armored enemies.

This is the type of game you should show your Dad to revitalize his love for video games. I wish I could go back in time and play this game for the first time again. Lunacid has solidified its spot in my Top 5 games of all time. If you made it all the way through this review, thank you for reading and go buy the game.
