So, I have some complaints. It's hard to place things exactly where you want them, or to line them up with the walls or other furniture. There's also no paint samples, so if you're going to paint a room, be prepared to buy a whole load of paint cans, test them on a whole wall panel, then sell the ones you don't like one by one. It's really hard to see during the in-game night, even with the flashlight.

That said, it's mostly a fantastic game. It's satisfying. It lets you have free rein over your design choices when you're flipping houses. There's some fun DLCs to spice up the main gameplay. The developers are pretty attentive to the game, judging by the updates I've seen since I bought the game, and the changes they've made. Cleaning is actually fun in the game, which is a first. Not to mention all the wacky touches like the buyers and secret rooms.

I keep expecting there to be creepy lore, like a murder dungeon or traps like in Home Alone. There never is, sadly. But that's okay.

This game has a lot of pros and a lot of cons.

Pros:
Dark story full of blood and death.
Lots of hilarious situations, if you notice and take advantage of them.
Satisfying gameplay
Short, if you have a good head for directions or if you know what you're doing

Cons:
Kinda gross. There's a tentacle monster, that's all I'll say.
You can easily get lost in the levels
No fast travel, so if you're like me and get lost in a paper bag, you'll be looking up guides just to find out where to go.
Short. Even with the Christmas DLC, the game is only a few hours long.

Summary:
Don't get me wrong, I love the game. That's why I recommended it and why I'm writing this review. I just think some things could've been better. Like a map, for instance. Most of the time I spent in the game was me being lost and wandering around. And the ending fell a little flat for me. I kinda wanted some kind of climax, some grand resolution to the story. But, as it stands, I can understand why they left things like that. The monster, having escaped from the facility, is now free to weak havoc on the unprepared world, highlighting the element of horror that is left up to the imagination. Or, if you're contrary like me, you can imagine that the monster ate as few people as possible and ran off to the forest somewhere to just live its best life.

Seriously awesome game. It's got the combat-style and themes of Dark Souls, the look of Undertale, and the mechanics of Hollow Knight.

And, unlike other games, it has good replayability. The Devs have already released two major updates, adding new content to new game plus.

If you have to know one thing about the game, it's that it's fair, but frustrating. And, even better, there's a good doggo you can pet infinitely many times.

I bought this game on a whim around when it came out. I didn't play it until a year or so later.

The only thing I regret is that I didn't play it sooner, because it could've been in my life earlier.

Hands down, this is one of my two absolute favorite games. I am quite possibly the most indecisive person on the planet, so for me to say that a game is one of my favorites, is a big deal.

Everything about the game is incredible, from the music, to the graphics, to the lore, to the combat styles. I don't usually cry, but I still cry at moments when I play the game.

No other game has inspired me to spend hours hunting down every single secret and achievement I can, just to say that I did. This game took hours upon hours of blood, sweat, and tears to do, not to mention all the frustrated yelling. But it was all worth it. So, incredibly worth it. Even now, when there's really nothing left to do, I still go back occasionally just to immerse myself in the atmosphere and enjoy myself.

I cannot stress just how good this game is. If you're like me, you're eagerly awaiting Silksong, and praying for more after that.

I knew about the game before, but never was interested enough to buy it for myself. Then, quarantine happened, and I decided "what the hell, I'll try it". Big mistake on my part. I didn't think I was great at video games, maybe about average.

I was wrong.

I've never felt more stupid than when I struggled for half an hour to get past the first boss, or when I spend an entire two days (about 16 hours total) just trying to beat Ornstein and Smough. I've also never felt as enraged at a game as when I was one swing away from beating Super Ornstein, then stupidly dodged the wrong way, and lost 200,000 souls getting killed on my way back to him. Also, I wasn't able to get to the Super Ornstein stage again. If you can tell, yes, I'm still salty about it.

Not even Getting Over It With Bennet Foddy was able to make me this angry and still have me wanting to continue playing. But, then again, this is my first playthrough of the game, and I'm trying to solo everything without summons.

So, despite me wanting to smash my head into the nearest solid surface, I'm still playing it; I'm still slowly, grudgingly, painstakingly making progress. My hands are cramped, my fingertips are sore, I haven't eaten lunch in days, but I'm still chugging along. Despite the annoying slog through Blighttown, and the equally annoying slog though Tomb of the Giants. And I'll probably sink at least another two hundred hours into this monstrosity until I'm sick of it.

This game is entirely for masochists and perfectionists, and I guess I'm both. If I wasn't, I certainly am now.

As you can see from how many hours I've channeled into Skyrim, I love the game to pieces. I'm not a person to pick favorites, but this one just might be it for me. I haven't played any of the other games in the series, though I have bought Oblivion and it's sitting in my library waiting to be installed.

Here's some cons, though.
Bugs. Lots of bugs, particularly if you use cheats a lot. I've had my followers completely dissapear on me, get stuck in Shalidor's maze; I've fallen through the ground, had dragons freeze up on me, and more. The amazing flying Lydia is only one of the myriad glitches.
Some NPCs are one-line characters, and I would've liked at least a little variety in conversations I could have with random people. The characters that are more multi-dimensional definitely have more spark, but dialogue options are still limited. And while I know that everything can't be programmed into inconsequential characters, a little spice would be nice.
It's getting a little older, so the graphics, while still nice, are definitely not up to current Triple A games.
The open-world exploration might be a little much for some players, so I'll include it here.
Some people dislike the DLC as well, and I can see where they're coming from. The DLC isn't great. Solstheim, while it gives you an entire island to explore, doesn't capture the same feelings as the base game. If you're going to do DLC, go for Dawnguard and Hearthfire instead. Or, if you want to do everything, be my guest and meet the First Dragonborn.

Here's the pros.
You can choose your character's appearance, race, and what kind of skills they have. I've been a Khajit thief, a Redguard warrior, a Nordic werewolf, an Imperial Jack-of-all-Trades. My next playthrough, I intend to rely solely on magick, since I tend to go for the warhammers instead of the spellbooks. There's also factions you can join, like a band of shadowy assassins.
You can go anywhere and everywhere, and you can pick and choose what objectives you do and in what order you go them in. I never complete the main quest until I've done everything else I want to do in the game.
There are so many little narratives that aren't part of any quests. They're in journals you pick up and in bodies scattered around you. For example, in one of the ruins, I found a dead Falmer and a girl curled up together, and I like to think they had fallen in love and were killed by the Falmer's clan. Another example is when I found a girl's yellow dress in Delphine's storage chest, so I theorize that she once had a daughter, as she doesn't seem like the person to keep an unrelated person's clothes with her.
You get to play as the most BAMF person (besides Doomguy) that I've seen. Literally, the Dragonborn devours the souls of Dragons after killing them. And can take that soul energy to unlock mystical powers they can then use on the next dragon and whatever enemies dare to test their steel.

Honestly, there's more I can say about the game, but I think this has gone on long enough. Cheers if you've managed to slog through all my wordiness. If you're here, then all I can say is that this game has changed my life and my expectations. So many games I've played have fallen short of this one. It's a game that you can play over and over again and never do exactly the same things twice. Try it for yourself if you want to see what I'm talking about.

If you want to be simultaneously terrified and in awe of the ocean, this game is for you. If you like open-world exploration and environmental storytelling, this game is for you. If you like survival scenarios and like to build things with scavenged resources, this game is for you. But, honestly, anyone can find something they like about this game, from the aesthetics, the mystery, the sounds and music, or the gameplay. Even the impatient players who go straight for the cheat codes can find a haven here, though I wouldn't entirely recommend it. If you're like me, and take your sweet time ferreting out every possible thing to find, you can do that here, too. Do Subnautica your way.
