Honestly, taking a first look at this game, I was kind of put off by the art style but thought that it's not a reason enough not to give it a try.

As I started playing, I was quite surprised at how great it proceeds with portraying the characters and dealing with mental health issues, topics like depression were addressed in such a mature yet gamelike way. It's an extremely deep, scary, and fascinating adventure with a mind-blowing story, great voice acting, and utilization of a soundtrack. It’s a beautiful yet sad picture of our own lives.

That said, I did have a couple of issues at times with sound and other times with controls, but it never crossed the line of taking me out of the immersion.

Overall great game 8.5/10

A captivating journey into a beautiful, atmospheric wilderness, with an interesting story. Firewatch manages to engross you from the moment it begins and throughout its rather short story. The ending might be a point of contention, but it all comes down to a perspective and regardless of that, you should definitely consider picking up this game.

Set in 1960s Taiwan during the White Terror period, students Wei and Ray find themselves trapped in Greenwood High School, which is located in a remote mountainous area. The place they once knew has changed in unsettling ways, haunted by evil creatures known as the "lingered". While hiding from the rampaging monsters, the protagonists unveil mysteries that slowly reveal the dark past of the cursed school.

The creepy artwork and soundtrack in this game are amazing as is the story of the game that slowly comes together as you progress. Point and click type of gameplay, mixed with puzzles and a great atmosphere make this a truly amazing story-rich horror experience.

The game itself is rather short as it only took me 2.6 hours to complete it and an additional 0.4 hours to 100%.

That is the only reason why I am not sure if I can recommend paying full price for it, however, if it is on sale for 5-6 USD/EUR or less you should definitely consider it.
