I don't know where to start and where to finish with this game.
First things first, I played and finished the game on my PS4 at Christmas 2021 and I just got it for my PC since I couldn't wait to try it here as well. I must say, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is 100 times better here than on the PlayStation from the little I've played so far. Of course the experience on my PS4 was amazing, even though it's not the same quality, it's a masterpiece nonetheless.
As far as the visual part goes, the scenery combined with the great music is just breathtaking. Whether you roam for missions, battle or you just take a walk with your horse you won't be let down from the perfect graphics of the game.
Unfortunately, when I first played the game I had zero clue about the story, lore or anything regarding the original thing on the books and the previous games. Even though I was clueless, the game itself made it pretty clear about what you should do and gave me enough information to enjoy the game to the fullest. By the time I finished it, it made a great impact on me and made me want to engage myself with the whole world of The Witcher. I looked up the books and the whole lore, played the previous game and watched the Netflix series which I loved.
Honestly, there are so many things I want to talk about this game so let's start with the story. From the beginning till the end I was hooked by how captivating it was and I was really curious about the whereabouts of Ciri. I especially loved the battle near the end of the game at Kaer Morhen but I don't wanna spoil too much about it as you should all give it a go yourself because it's totally worth it. I personally think the story of the whole trilogy is spectacular and that alone is more than enough to consider playing all of them.
The mechanics are just perfect, and I specifically liked two battle features the game offers. The first one is that you carry two swords, different depending on the nature of your opponent (human/non-human) which I find pretty cool. The other one is that your weapons slowly get destroyed the more you use them so you have to remake them if you really like them or just get totally different ones. I also like how you put things on the swords like runes or oil for specific occasions.
I'm as ecstatic as the first time I played the game, even though it hasn't even been a year since I finished it for the first time. Even though I bought the Game of the Year Edition on my PS4 too, I never got the two extra story DLCs (still don't know why), so my goal this time is to finish the game on its 100% with the other two DLCs and enjoy the extra experience they have to offer. I know it might be very time consuming to finish every little quest and do everything possible inside the game but I'm dedicated to my goal. I hope this time I get a better ending since last time I got the worst and depending on your choices you can get multiple ones.
If anyone asks me If the game is worth it on its current price I'd definitely say yes, not only now that it's on sale (which is a total steal), but also on its full price. There are lots of games out there costing a lot more and not worth even the half. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is absolutely not one of them and 30 euros is honestly super fair price for this masterpiece. If you are a fan of RPGs you're gonna love this game in many aspects.
Generally speaking, it's a rare sight for me to fall in love so much with a franchise. This game made me love everything about it and made me a huge collector, from FunkoPops to a thermal bottle (someone could even say I sold my soul to The Witcher). I hope one day I get the opportunity to buy all the books as well from Andrzej Sapkowski. This is more of a "story" about how I came to love The Witcher and my point of view about it so I left any details about the mechanics and story outside of it. I just wanted to share my humble opinion and I hope I make someone find the game as fascinating as I did.
If you've made it this far on my review I must confess a small lie I said at the beginning. The first time I came in touch with the game was actually during the big quarantine on 2020, where I only managed to play 3 hours until I got bored to death. I know this is kind of off topic but I wanna give you a small advice from personal experience. As the saying goes, don't ever judge a book by its cover, whether it's about a game, person or situation. Always give things time and allow yourself to process things before you decide what you like and what you actually don't. Second chances are a thing and believe me some things require time and patience to reveal the hidden gem they truly are. Growing up our criteria about all kinds of things change, time passes and at one point we get the chance to view something from a different perspective that can even make us love something that we once hated, as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt did to me.
