I recently hit 2,000 hours played in this game. I figured I'd update my review as it's been 1,000 more hours since my initial review.

This game is such a mixed bag honestly. There's both positive and negative. First off, I am what most players call a "survivor main". I have made numerous good friendships by playing DbD and for that it will always hold a special place in my heart. If you're looking for friends, definitely play this game and interact with "randoms" in the pre or post-game chat lobbies. Every once in a while you get people that are fun to interact with and are cracked at the game. Friend them up and you'll be enjoying this game in no time!

With that being said, the game's direction has been going downhill for a while. There's currently a "gen kick" meta that makes the game frustrating as hell to play. Most killer's just set up a "3 gen" at the beginning of the game and patrol that until they have camped or tunneled a survivor out of the game. At which point, the killer has a MASSIVE advantage. The recent patch notes from the devs that were dropped the other day are also heavily nerfing healing. These things slow the game to a screeching halt and make half the games you play boring as can be. You tend to get really frustrated after an hour of playing and that frustration turns to toxic behavior. You see it on both sides, from killers and survivors. The devs are trying so hard to make this a competitive "e-sports" kind of game that it is actually ruining the "fun" aspect of it. I could go on and on about all that's disappointing with this game, but I'd rather not spend any more energy on this review.

To recap really quick, the way the game is right now, and the way it is looking to get shaped in the coming months, is a really bad look. If you're a new solo player, I would think long and hard about playing this game. In fact, I would recommend against it and tell you to go play something else more worthy of your time! It is great with friends, but playing solo is actual torture. If you're a player that has a ton of hours like me in the game, well, I guess I'll suffer with you in the fog. We're too far gone to be saved from the grind and the pain. 😅
