Tl;dr below, good game hindered by ham-fisted dialogue and poorly handled politics. If you want to play it, do a challenge run. Game is too easy without one.

The game has nice art, an overall fun story, and interesting mechanics, but a lot of it goes to waste due to incredibly low difficulty and some very ham-fisted moments and scenes.

The story tries some heavy political themes, but a lot of the scenes throw the developer's politics square at your head rather than subtly weaving them throughout its story. There are multiple scenes where a character will suggest communism (or an analogy for communism) out of the blue, and two of them are from the main character who is repeatedly shown to be somewhat stupid and bad with words. Political stories can certainly work, but this is much too blunt and much too simple.

The dialogue also has some very fine moments, but then some complete and utter stinkers that are so poor, they took me out of the story altogether. Characters would spin on a dime from being rational adults, to petulant bullies wanting nothing more than to impose on you (just so the story can justify you fighting them), to being steadfast allies in your court! It made me actively dislike one of the otherwise nice characters because of how this ruined her in the final act.

The gameplay is extremely easy, too easy to be a challenge without intentionally handicapping yourself. I beat the final boss with nearly no difficulty, using basic beginner level strategies. I haven't played an RPG in YEARS, and I dunked this so hard I was stalling fights because I felt like I was missing content by playing normally. If you want to play this game, do yourself a favour and handicap yourself. I suggest just not using skill trees at all, that should be enough of a nerf for the game to be difficult.

Amazing game, but I recommend playing it on the beta 0.5 instead of the normal version (as of right now). The beta is a lot more detailed and has a lot more to do.

Amazing. Great gameplay, controls and game modes. It allows tons of replayability through the 3 game modes, unlocks and high difficulty.
