interesting and well done sim piece but gameplay is more tedious than anything. if they focused more on being an educational game about the intricacies and inner mechanics of firearms then it would be a dub I think. overall alright concept but really lacking in legitimate gameplay, which hopefully will be improved in the full release

Early Access Review
Idk why endnight went for so long saying this game was going to come out as a full release. It's blatantly obvious from the start they intended to make it another early access project. I've played the game twice, got both endings, went through all caves and got all times. Currently playing on a day 43 save. It's def worth a try at least in it's current state, but has alot of glaring issues. Biggest issues in my eyes come from;
-The Map is way too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ big and is almost entirely barren:
Having a large map/play area only works if you have plenty of content to fill it. At least 70% of the map is just dead land (no landmarks, cannibal camps, and because the island is mountainous, a good majority of it is slanted, making it unbuildable on).
-Optimization:
I've got a 3060 with an i9 and I can barely run the game at a constant 60 with lowest settings possible. The game is extraordinarily pretty, but it's pretty hard to enjoy when you're wandering around at 30 frames.

There are alot of more minor issues, like npc ai being weird as shvt. Kelvin constantly crouchwalks on a table in my base and gets himself stuck. I put a window opening in my base, and after closing it (because it let in cold air and made me freeze during the winter) something messed up and half my base had rain and snow falling through the roof. The game is incredibly easy by the way. The gunplay, even with how relatively scarce ammo is, makes you invincible against any threat. Not to mention that giving weapons to virginia allows her to spray down tribes of cannibals with no ammo required. The survival is absolutely bare-bones as well. There are a couple of new food items, but the varying types of meat that were present in the first game have been devolved into the same universal hunk of meat. I'm genuinely mixed as of writing this if I should recommend it or not, but I've overall. enjoyed the game, I really love The Forest, and I think endnight, being the small team they are, so deserve praise for what they've made. The Forest and Sons (even in its current state) is better than anything that's come out of the Triple A market in years.
Buy at your own risk ig

also if ur interested ive got like 2 screenshots of spots where you can just walk under the map
