The visuals of the game are beautiful. As I am personally not into synth, the soundtrack begins to annoy me after a while, but even then there are places such as Shade's room once it is decorated, the secret tower.
The initial awe of exploring and trying to figure out what is actually going on is indeed a lot of fun, just as figuring the answers to some of the puzzles (how to get into the treasury or the secret library, and my personal favourite: the mushroom planting). However, once you figure them all out, there indeed is nothing more to do than waiting if you have your eyes set on certain resolutions. (Still you will check on your shade every so often, because you can't just leave the poor guy alone there.)
While I sense a lot of emptiness in the game (which yes, is part of the longing, but come on, one or three more little puzzles?) and the lack of replay value for any other purpose than a different ending (which you can find on YouTube anyway), the game allows for obtaining all achievements in one go if your timing is good.
As a piece of artwork it had a good potential to provoke thoughts on multiple psychological subjects. As it is executed, it falls out of the category of classic games, as the story is slow, unchanging and clearly stated at the very beginning, there is no score to keep, and no prize to win.

I am still mulling it over with the stork.
