So far I'm really enjoying the art and the atmosphere in this game. The sound is also very good and ambient. It does what its suppose to do. Present a dark and creepy rpg adventure but with some king quest style puzzles and choices. Its also simple yet not basic, easy to figure out with enough trial and error. Feels a lot like some of the creepier titles from the NES era like friday the 13th or festers quest. Only actually good, not that those games were bad for their time, but they were kinda bad. I guess a better example would be splatterhouse.

About the only negative is it don't support full 1080 resolution, least not to my knowledge. I would like to get this to fit my screen. But its a minor gripe the game is still worth it for all other areas.

Ya got a portal gun, and you shoot holes in walls and jump through them, there's an AI with a really headache inducing voice. Graphics are ok, perfect sleeping aid better than pills for real.

Play it at night when you got a hard day of work lined up, nothing better. Oh pretty much all valve games are like this btw.

I was honestly expecting a lot better given the praise this game gets all over ytube and online forums. I even gifted it and got the package with all games. Of course now I'm thinking maybe I should of stuck with the original first. I'm still not sure what to think of this game but the reason I'm giving it a thumbs down isn't just for the game and gameplay. Its because of the wonkyness, odd crashes messing with the inventory, very limited barebone features, no modern support, steam overlay doesn't even work. It feels like a game that an indie team put together cause chernobyl. Its funny cause I love other eastern euro games I've played like chasm the rift, pathologic, and darkwood. But there's something that just feels kinda off about this game. Its rough, and the atmosphere doesn't feel very abstract or creepy. It does feel realistic with a lot of attention to detail and real life. But the physics also feel bad, enemies take way more damage than a realistic shooter should (especially one that uses ads and cod system), they cause a ton of damage to you however. Some punk mercs AR spray can shred you down in seconds then its visit the inventory. And you better take cover before you do cause the inventory is in real time and they can just as easily kill you while you are managing your inventory. The inventory is also very clunky and unresponsive. Sometimes you will click items and they won't even register or do anything. This was a game I wanted to like ever since I saw the previews for stalker 2 but now that I'm playing it, its a real let down. But then I wasn't exactly expecting something that special from 2008 but still, fallout 3 is a much better game when it comes to gameplay mechanics and allowing pretty much anyone to just jump in. For example I've known many people irl friends and family who loved FO3, but if I showed them this for even 5 mins they'd be more likely to get bored or frustrated very fast. And part of that is cause it tries to be realistic while also being overly janky.

Its not all bad but I'm also giving it a negative cause I keep crashing, or exploring forgetting to save scum and some guy machine guns me down outa nowhere when I wasn't paying attention looking at a cool soviet era ran down truck. Do not expect a bunch of creepy monsters and horror elements, least not right away (course I dunno about that been playing for over 10 hours and all I seen are cheap punks in black hoodies). The one thing I will say is strong about this game is the attention to terrain detail and the authentic look of soviet and cold war ukrainian era equipment everywhere. Lots of great locations, the levels themselves and the details surrounding them are one reason why I would give this a positive if it wasn't so bug ridden.

Also the way the publishers and devs are pushing the new console releases and advertising them while ignoring this bug ridden product also seems bad. I enjoyed the FEAR pack a lot more. Straight up action shooter with awesome physics might not be as open ended as this, but a shooter doesn't really need to be if its fun. Also you will walk, forever, for a long time, no fast traveling either. Expect to walk to this spot, get weighed down, have to move back to npc vendor, make some cash (barely anything though), and walk all the way back to wherever you left off. And walking from place to place takes forever. Where most of my 10 plus hours went was just walking.

I really don't know what to think about this series, wanted really bad to like it and was positive I would. But so far it just seems like a rough experience that isn't even a match for pathologic years before it. In atmosphere, story, complexities and just all around fun pathologic hd for a buck on sell is just a better deal imo. So is darkwood, a game I heard many people compare this to, but its not really like DW, it doesn't have the abstract feel, art, or atmosphere/horror that DW has. Its just, well, it feels like a sandbox call of duty with a wonky inventory system, and inventory crashes sometimes.

This is probably why people say play with mods but I prefer to beat something vanilla at least once. My review might change after I beat it. So far the game is kind of a let down, thought it was gonna be much better and ended up liking a gz doom mod called dismantled more than this. Ended up pouring 80hours into dismantled, bought dismantled directors cut, and didn't touch this for a month or 2. Beat and conquered dismantled and it was awesome (a frickin gzdoom mod), now revisiting this again, and getting reminded of why I got bored of it in the first place.

Kinda overrated.

Good graphics and physics... I just don't feel nothing from this game so far. I'm not saying its a bad game. It does some things right, has some interesting gameplay mechanics. But its just.... I'm just not feeling much excitement here from a game that's suppose to be pushing excitement. You start out in a collapsing building, lotta stuff falling around you and escape or die sequences. Lot of watching the same scenes till you get it right. Its got a call of duty style progression system based on auto save checkpoints. I'am not against this for shooters and duck and cover games. But in a survival horror game it kinda makes the inventory seem pointless. You also gotta do uninteresting things like actually spray medicine on wounds. This may sound fun to some, but I find it boring and disinteresting. If I wanted to treat wounds I'd play trauma center. Plus given the checkpoint system there doesn't seem like much of a reason to treat wounds. The inventory system is also in real time, so don't try to manage things during a fight you and your allies (yep you get a lot of distracting people who you don't even know) (dudes got amnesia).. So, you hear them squealing and complaining when you are trying to manage inventory and while enemies are hitting you. These mechanics, I guess they might be interesting in the right kinda game. But in this it just feels irritating. So far the enemies are zombie like possessed things. Or weird little alien bugs that are more stock than scary. And there's some big badguy, who seems pointless. Whatever it is, it destroys the environment constantly, chases you around, causes mass destruction, and sends enemies after you (possessed people). The thing that's odd is if this things so strong why doesn't it just kill you (probably a plot device I'm unaware of)? The badguys just are not that interesting. I bought the AITD pack with the original games, and they are more interesting than this at a fraction of the size for nostalgia, creep factor, and gameplay that's while cumbersome, old and annoying, still doesn't feel as bad as fumbling around in your inventory while enemies attack you, or npcs complain.

The game also has a chapter structure where you can pick any episode you want. Which doesn't feel like much of a progression game but ok... There's some driving sequences later on but... I just don't feel compelled by this game. It lacks the abstract dark atmosphere of other horror games like silent hill, darkwood, pathologic, shadowman or resident evil... It just feels like a cheesy hollywood action film. Characters are pointlessly introduced just to help you out of a spot, only to get pointlessly crushed or possessed by the badguy. There is little to no emotional investment in human life and people are just used as prop sets. Its just kind of boring and uninteresting. I might keep it installed for a while longer just to see if anything good happens at all. But so far I just don't like anything about this, it doesn't feel interesting in the least.

If you want a game more like this but fun I'd recommend resident evil, silent hill, darkwood, deadly premonition, or alan wake. This just feels a little boring and disinterring. Full of pointless characters who die within 5 mins of meeting them.

This is going to be a short review as I have not even cracked this game yet. Reason I'm reviewing it at this time at 97 mins is cause I love the first one. And the directors cut looks to be even better. Upscaled graphics, new secrets (a lot more), lots of extra content, I don't even wanna go over whats new cause to many spoilers but its very nice. I highly suggest getting the first dismantled before buying this. For one reason, you won't notice all the extra content, and there is a lot of differences between the original and the cut one. Also to test the waters, unless you just absolutely love the concept of this game you might want to try out the original to see if its your kinda game. I liked it so much that I binge played it for 80 plus hours so, that's how I feel about it. The game is full of content and extremely replayable.

Its giving the creator of disturbed some financial acknowledgement. And why not? This game was amazing, and the sequel is even better. Why wouldn't you wanna give a buck to show your support if you enjoyed it? The game gave you everything full games give, achievements, amazing atmosphere, good art, and an awesome morbid storyline. So if you liked disturbed and disturbed 2, please help the creator with a small donation. This is one of my fav indie horror series on steam for being pure art. It was a unique experience and probably my fav visual novel of all time.

Won't be buying another one of these, these games are absolute rubbish.
To put it into perspective, the tiger electronic style one is the only halfway decent one. And all you do is move and collect mushrooms. The rest are all wonky first person junk. They are either simple as doom or make your pc chug to a crawl. Some have no gameplay at all like rotgun which isn't even a game its a boring hallway with nothing scary whatsoever. Even pony factory which got its own game is mediocre as hell, and you are better off with good indie shooters than that one. Get dismantled that game had more gameplay and content than all of these combined and it was a gzdoom mod. This collection stinks, maybe I'll find a game that's decent but played over 5 or 6 of them so far and none of them are good. They seem rushed with either purposely bad graphics or ok graphics that make your pc chug. And they don't even look above ps2 era so it makes no sense. Took a chance and crashed and burned.

Gonna add a bit more depth to this review, my opinion has not changed. There's a lot of really wonky and pointless garbage on here. Nothing is even the least bit scary either, they don't even feel like real horror games. If you want a good horror game you can get pathologic, darkwood, dismantled, shadowman, amnesia, and many more and they don't even ask as much as this turd pile. I hate being hard on indies but they didn't even try they just ported garbage and said here ya go horror.

No offense to the maker of faith his little digital game on here is the best one. Don't go outs decent, and hand of doom seems cool cept the rune combo thing can get annoying.

The rest either have potential but are just short as hell and are clones of older better games (the pay is nice), the rest are ho hum first person junk made with wonky unity that will drag down all but the most powerful pcs. Not worth it, just get a good dedicated singular horror game, unless you are interested in summer night for the tiger electronic nostalgia (only reason I'm not refunding this).

This also didn't do any favors for pony factory, looks bland you go through doors, either shoot or die not scary skeletons, and that's it. I don't get how this got so many more in this series.

OK did some more research on these games and most can be beaten in less than an hour. But it's an hour of jank and not fun or scary games. This collection is a waste of money I got roped in, it's bad, don't get how it's got positive reviews. But I then I don't get a lot about gaming.

Summer night is ok, only buy this if you want tiger nostalgia.

Changing my review to positive since summer night and shatter aren't bad. But pony factory is incredibly overrated.

This game was actually better than I expected. I also gifted it to a friend and I didn't wait for it to be on sell since the asking price was fair. Instead of buying the 8$ directors cut I opted to just get the original so I could also gift it. Might as well spread around the first one before buying the super duper special one.
Some things you should be aware of, these things don't ruin the quality of the game to me as I wasn't expecting to get sucked into the game for over 30 hours and binge play it. Reason being is cause I love nightmares. Darkwood, pathologic, shadowman, blood omen, resident evil, silent hill, amnesia, I've beat all these games and I love the dark atmosphere in games like these. Nightmares can have an impact on peoples psyches, its our minds preparing us for eventual death. Its not exactly a positive thought but its true, one day we will die, be it by nature, human, old age, illness etc. One day we will die, and a nightmare is just preparing you for that (my thoughts on nightmares), the worst nightmares, are the loops that you can't wake up from. So when I get a good horror game, I want to beat it and see what happens.

That's why I really enjoyed this game. It does more with the doom engine than I've ever seen a mod do, besides brutal doom but brutal doom is just doom. Well doom with super badass added everything, beat brutal doom several times and loved it. Project brutality is also great. But this isn't a doom mod. Anyone who tries to say this is just a doom mod is wrong. This is more like system shock than doom, and resident evil. It just uses dooms engine, no different than many games now that use Unreals engine. The thing is this game isn't just doom re hybrid, its a lot of things. Its system shock, and amnesia (there are some enemies that can kill you in one hit, well at least 1). And to anyone saying, the game has limited weapons. This isn't like quake or doom that gives you tons of super nuke weapons or a black hole gun. This games based on survival about a normal dude in a shabby car getting thrust into a bizarre nightmare scenario. I don't wanna spoil it, but every weapon you get is practical but well handled and fun. The pistol actually sounds like a real pistol. Sure the weapon animations look dated and there's no intricate reloading... But they at least got the sounds right. And the sounds in this game are very authentic, music is nice as well and very creepy.

I'm not going to go over the storyline or plot, but if you played quake2, just imagine that but with animals instead of machines. You are fighting a bunch of people who basically died or near dead who got combined with animal parts and now you're just a glorified mercy killer. Its messed up but the guy responsible is a real sicko and he needs to be put down. And these people if they really are people still in there need mercy and to be put out of their misery. Just like the strogg.

Its a really chilling and atmospheric game. There is some pretty brutal pixels and a good deal of morbid violence, towards women as well. But you can actually save a woman, and the protagonist isn't a bad guy he wants to save other people as well as himself. So don't go into this thinking this is some edgy gore porn. None of this is justified the villain is an insane piece of garbage a villain you should hate more than anything. And his cruelty oddly pushes you along, the anger you feel at the cheapness of this game (it is a hard game) mixed with the mutilation he is doing to innocent men and women, really makes you want to kill this scumbag.

Editing my review, well this game did it, it went and forced me to buy the directors cut. Its that damn good.

This game input configurations are an abomination, don't buy this unless you want a big configuration headache. Its really odd that stuff like this seems to be made bad on purpose. I really love a whole day wasted on configurations.

And it does look like a great game if you can actually play it.

Achievements also seem to be glitched and won't unlock. Its a fun game but everything is a mess and poorly put together.

Its actually a fun retro style action rpg. There's one problem with this game and its the reason I'm giving it a thumbs down. There is no controller or keymapping config and the default controls are horrendous. They want you to walk with the right keys, jump with the space, use different attacks with the M<> buttons (I have no idea the reasoning behind that), and its just a really big pain. I don't get it, it makes no sense, but that's why I'm giving this a negative.

I suggest if a game wants you to play it in an incredibly uncomfortable way you thumb it down, because it shows lack of any kind of awareness or care for the consumer. This configuration is terrible its awful and they give you no other option. And don't even bother making the suggestion on the forum games forum is dead and inactive. The publishers are putting out a game with an incredibly unconveniant and awkward control system and they don't want to change it. Reason enough for a negative review from me.
