Isaac is associated with laughter not only through his name but by being present for the greatest variety of confusing "Here I am" exchanges in the Bible. These may be analyzed like jokes because:
The one expected to say "Here I am" doesn't say where he is (Adam)
The one who should say "Here I am" can't answer (Abel slain by Cain)
The one who says "Here I am" hasn't been asked where he is (Abraham)
The one who says "Here I am" isn't usually called by name (Abraham)
The one who says "Here I am" answers someone who already knows where he is (Abraham answering Elohim, Isaac, and YHWH's angel)
The one who says "Here I am" (Abraham) is told that he has only one son (Isaac), which isn't true because he is actually the father of Ishmael as well
The one who says "Here I am" can't tell who or where others are (Isaac)
The one who says "Here I Am" (Jacob) is impersonating his twin (Esau), who also said "Here I Am" earlier
The one who says "Here I am" (Jacob) is dressed like a lamb, the same role Isaac played when Abraham answered the same way
The one who says "Here I am" (Moses) answers YHWH, who then tells Moses to refer to him as "I am"
The one who says "Here I am" doesn't recognize who is calling him (Samuel)
The one who is present and says "Before Abraham was, I am" isn't recognized as the son of God by those he addresses, and doesn't consider them the true children of God either (Jesus addressing the Jews)
