I told myself that once I finished the game on Uber (the highest difficulty) that I would write a review, so here goes:

Story: I bought this game expecting a straightforward nazi shooting adventure. What I got was an amazing experience. This game has the best story out of any of the shooters I have played. It makes you care about the characters, and they really did a good job with the player character too. The story dives headfirst into what might have happened if WWII had gone differently. I love alternative history and any excuse to shoot nazis is a good one. The game also doesn't pull many punches when it comes to what the nazis might have done.

Weapons: Ah yes, on to the good stuff. The weapons are fun and most of them have a secondary mode of fire, but my personal favorite is the knife. There are 2 kinds of: Machine Guns, Pistols, Shotguns, and Laser Based Weapons, and for 90% of the game you play with the second version (except for the laser weapon, you play about 70% of the game with the second version of that one). There is only one kind of sniper rifle in the game. You can dual wield 2 of the same kind of gun, which is awesome (dual sniper rifles = :) ) and there are upgrades to be found for the weapons (1 each except for the laser which has about 5). There are also grenades and turret guns (unfortunately you cant carry the last with you at all times).

Enemies: Ugh, these guys . . . The enemies in this game, are pretty varied, ranging from your run of the mill soldier to attack dogs to people that have been experimented on and turned into Super Soldiers (Super Soldaten), but not in a Captain America way! One great thing about them is that they can all be deadly, sometimes its easier to die to a grunt then it is to die to a larger "tougher" enemy (especially on higher difficulties). It helps keep you on your toes. My only complaint is that once you know how to beat him the final boss becomes pretty easy (I did it first try on Uber within 2 minutes).

Perks, health, and armor: This game has a health and armor system, and I think they did a fantastic job with it. Your health will fill up to the nearest multiple of 20 (so if you have 21 health it'll go up to 40 and stop) so if you need more you have to find items to gain health (food, medical supplies, etc). You can "overcharge" you health above the maximun but it will slowly tick back down to the maximun. You increase your armor by finding pieces and picking them up. Armor does not replenish by itself and it can't be overcharged. There are various "perks" you can unlock by doing specific tasks (like killing 2 enemies with one grenade). These perks give you small boosts (like increasing the magazine size of weapons or letting you carry more grenades).

Difficulty: This game has 5 difficulty modes which roughly fall under the catagories of easiest, easy, medium/normal, hard, and hardest. The two that i played felt pretty balanced when it comes to difficulty. The "medium" is challenging but not too bad, and the "hardest" is a big step up. If you've played the game a couple times, and know how stealth works the first few levels of "hardest" aren't too bad. After that things get a lot harder. I found myself scrounging for extra ammo, health, and armor a lot more on that difficulty, and I had to use cover more often. I now understand why so few people have the achievement for beating the entire game on that difficulty. It's a game that can be played and enjoyed by both hardcore, and more casual players.

Overall: This game is a blast. It has a great story, good characters, good weapons, interesting and varied enemies, good health and armor systems, unlockable perks, and a nice balanced difficulty. I would highly reccomend this to anyone looking for a good shooter game or anyone looking for an excuse to shoot nazis. Have fun and good luck everyone :)
