Nut Goop RPG Cannon

This study explores the mechanics of propelling a viscoelastic non-Newtonian fluid, or "goop," using a wearable high-pressure cannon. The focus is on the fluid’s behavior when expelled at high velocities and the unintended effects on nearby bystanders.

Non-Newtonian fluids exhibit variable viscosity, changing under stress, which complicates their control during expulsion. The wearable cannon is designed for minimal turbulence, allowing the goop to transition from a semi-solid to a fluid state, achieving high velocities through shear-thinning effects. This rapid expulsion generates thrust, propelling the goop over significant distances.

When the cannon is triggered, bystanders within range may be struck by the goop, which can fragment into droplets due to air resistance. The study found that higher pressure settings increased both the velocity and dispersion of the goop, leading to a broader impact area.
