Lightfall, while a step down from Witch Queen for sure is still LEAGUES better than shadowkeep with all of it's reused assets, and unimaginably better than Curse of Osiris and The Warmind. A lot of people are being pretty reactionary about what are legitimate criticisms but like "Mostly Negative" is a real stretch. The reviews will prob come up with the raid.

You've heard the hype, you've seen the cringe compilations and the abundance of disturbing or embarrassing fan creations. You've heard the memes: funny skeleton, give the pope a copy, game theory nonsense, etc.

And I'm here playing this game in 2021, six years after it came out, going in as blind as I can.

And I can assure that it is more than some boring meme factory with little merit.

Cons first:
-this is by no means an rpg. Don't go into this game expecting some in depth turn based strategy style of gameplay because you will be disappointed
-You do have to isolate yourself from the fanbase, try not to think about what this game has become through reinterpretation and instead view it on it's own merits

Now I can do the pros:
-the music. Every person with ears and an internet connection has heard at least one undertale track, whether you know or not. So many of this games tracks stick in my mind long after I've beaten the game. The ones that come to mind right away are Spear Of Justice, which rightly gets you pumped for a boss fight, Waterfall, an endlessly haunting tune that carries a sort of history to it's notes, and by far my favourite, Undertale, a track which simultaneously makes you feel solemn but determined to press forward as the game slows down to allow you to enjoy this mournful jam.

-Characters: Perhaps unsurprisingly the characters from this game are all iconic in their own right. It's as though the creator has taken all of everyone's single favourite character from a range of rpgs and developed characters out of them. To avoid giving too much away I will refrain from too many details, being as I believe this aspect is best experienced as blindly as possible.

-Story: The story is simple but resonant. I won't claim that Undertale is even the first game to attempt the fourth wall defying story tropes as I believe that would be doing a disservice to all those that inspired it. that said, Undertale is a game that knows what it's doing in this regard. Once again it is hard to explain without giving much away but I will just say that I believe the story to be a strong suit of this game.

-Art: I have seen many complaints about this game having otherwise "bad" graphics. I would attribute this to a difference in stylistic taste personally, as I found the game's art to be really nice and very much in line with the games tone. That is to say I enjoyed it quite a lot.

Conclusion: Undertale is a fantastic game that excels in it's dialogue and story telling. I have a hard time believing that most people who go in without any biases will come out of the experience without having a fun time and with some good memories.

10/10, Don't kill, and don't get killed ok?
