Short, weird and very hard.

That's going to be you playing the game.

Pretty good, but frustrating at times due to poor movement that feel very slippery. Fantastic atmosphere; the vibe is cold, bleak, bloody and vulnerable. The platforming isn't very good and the stealth/combat might not be for everyone but there's a lot to love even if the gameplay isn't appealing to you (it wasn't to me to be honest).

Well worth a play if you like retro horror, but be aware that this game is made to be played in a single sitting and is about an hour long, less if you're not bad at it like me.

Very fun take on reverse-horror. The combat and movement feel unique and retain their charm for the whole game, the visuals are perfect and the overall style and presentation is always solid. It's not very deep or long but it's a lot of fun just being the monster and doing everything you'd see in a horror movie.

Amazing recreation of Half Life that changes just enough for the most part, overall fantastic in every way except a few things:

- First person platforming is still not fun, guys. It wasn't even that good in games that are literally built around parkour, please stop. You are not making Dying Light. You're not that guy.
- Vorts/Alien Slaves are not fun to fight like they are in the original, they're actually very annoying now and I always dreaded having to deal with them.
- The Xen chapters are way too long and full of dull puzzles, level design that gives me a headache and frustrating combat. Sucks as much as the original Xen levels but looks much nicer. Remids me of the Citadel levels from HL2: they also suck.
- On A Rail is much shorter, this was one of my favourite parts of the original and it's barely present while Residue Processing (a very bad chapter) is faithfully recreated.
- Some areas are so different you will get confused if you try to play from memory, meanwhile some terrible segments are identical.
- Everything is so much more detailed that some parts can feel like white noise and get too crowded compared to Half Life's normally very lean and minimal visual design. It gets overstimulating in some segments, but this isn't too common.
- The achievements are just not fun to do; they usually require either no effort or are time consuming and a massive pain. Many of them simply require you to die in a specific way or carry something around like that stupid gnome from Episode 2.
- Gonarch fight is somehow worse than before.
- Gman sounds bad.
- Some set pieces that have been added are blatant copies of other ones. We've done the whole "trapped in a small room with lots of explosives" dance already, we didn't need the same puzzle again.
- New enemies are largely derivative and feel pointless. Especially the new houndeyes and water-barnacles.
- The segments in Interloper with infinite radioactive ammo and health turn the tactical combat into braindead tedium.
- Being lost in a confusing alien world sounds and looks cool, but is in fact very boring. I feel the need to reiterate just how much Xen sucks. Hey guys, Xen sucks.

That's the extent of the bad stuff, otherwise everything else ranges from passable to incredible. Visuals are stunning at their best and there are plenty of additions to make it feel worth of being called a remake instead of just being a remaster.

Solid mod, good encounters but the text can be hard to catch and some puzzles are a little bit oblique. Worth a play, easily.

If you like tense and creepy atmosphere, realism, hardcore survival and want a low-key zombie experience that resembles the classics of the early zombie genre, play this game. If you think you'd survive the zombie apocalypse, play this to find out and put your money where your mouth is.

There are a lot of zombie games, this is one of the better ones.
