Early Access Review
I approached this game with high expectations, fueled by its impressive trailers and the promise of a gritty, immersive battlefield experience. After spending around six hours playing, I find myself with mixed feelings. The game shows great potential but feels like it was released too early—even for an early access title. Let's break down the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The Good

The game lives up to its hype in terms of environment and atmosphere. The battlefields are gritty, grimy, and riddled with the remnants of intense combat, capturing the chaos of war effectively. The core gameplay loop is solid, providing a firm foundation for future development. The gun mechanics are well-executed; weapons have depth and feel satisfying to use, which enhances the overall gameplay experience.

The Bad

Movement mechanics need significant improvement. Navigating through the game world can be awkward, with numerous environmental obstacles that can cause your character to get stuck. The vaulting system, intended to aid movement, requires a complete rework to be practical. Additionally, the AI behavior detracts from immersion. Enemies can be clunky, mechs often slide unnaturally, and NPC animations feel ungrounded and awkward. This lack of polish makes NPCs feel less like integral parts of the game world and more like obvious computer-controlled characters.

The Ugly

Performance issues are a major concern. Despite running on a high-end system equipped with a Core i9 processor, 16 GB of DDR5 RAM, and an NVIDIA RTX 4070, the game struggles to maintain 45-50 FPS at 1080p on low graphics settings and 50% resolution scale. This level of optimization is disappointing, especially considering that the game utilizes Unreal Engine 5, known for its efficiency. These performance problems make me question how the game runs on less powerful hardware.

Conclusion

Despite these challenges, it's important to remember that the game is in early access. The solid foundation in atmosphere and gameplay mechanics shows great promise. I genuinely feel that with updates focusing on performance optimization and reworking the vaulting movement mechanics, this game could become truly awesome. I'm optimistic that the developers will address these issues in future updates, unlocking the game's full potential and delivering the immersive experience that the initial trailers promised.
