Early Access Review
I really like this game, BUT
there's still missing parts to it. And don't get me wrong: I know it's early access rn so it's something we'll have to live with.

The Good:

The foundation of this game is probably its strongest part atm, building and managing your city is just pure fun, mostly due to the freedom of placing your buildings and roads however you want. In addition, the combat system is really good, despite not being the main attraction of the game, and I feel like that's the best part here: everything that's to come will be supported by this strong foundation, no matter if it is a new unit or more combat actions.

Bugs/Performance:

The game is running smoothly on my system, on ultra settings, wqhd and 60 fps. (RTX 4070, i5 13600k)
I encountered a few bugs, most of them nothing more than a bit annoying like some houses not finding the market correctly, resulting in some smaller marketplaces around my town to fix this issue. Although I encountered one major bug, where an army would respawn because they attacked me before I could reach the battlefield and got defeated, before the battle started.

The Future?:

As stated before, as a foundation this game, even in early access, is just really good. Tbh, there are many systems, production lines, units and AI-related stuff that would perfectly fit into the game. I am definitely looking forward to what comes next and my highlights/wishes would be:
- building a castle
- different regions/different terrain (mountains, meadows, forests, etc.)
- large scale fights (ik, this is not a total war and it doesn't want to be but with the current system there is never a real challenge after you fully upgraded your limited amount of units)

Early Access Review
This game looks great and its environments are something special for sure. Performance was good enough for me and I never had any issues with the coop. Additionally the idea of having an up-gradable train is unique enough to catch my attention.

But the rest is just there.

Combat feels and looks like it was build using an unreal engine tutorial for your first fps. Health bars randomly disappear and are only a red bar with no visible outline. Enemies have a very high aggro range and it feels like their accuracy is like 95% all the time. Moreover armor is not shown on the health bar but you rather have to try to shoot armor parts until they fall off, which is not very obvious at first and makes enemies a lot thiccer than they should be.
The whole idea of customizing your weapons (revolver and rifle / shotgun) sound cool on paper but actually finding the parts you need is depending on your luck since they only drop from enemies and those gambling machines.
Enemies of the void are just useless. They can easily be killed right at the start and at least some don't respawn until the next area.

All the stuff you need to craft to upgrade your train is just time waste, it doesn't belong in this type of game. Time restrictions only really make sense in games with automation like Satisfactory.

The train itself is cool, for sure but it just lacks any truly game changing upgrades. I was hoping to automate most of the gathering task with these small voiddragons but it's not worth it.
Driving with high speed not only consumes too much fuel but you loose the ability to gather new stuff effectively which makes the whole point of "a train in space" pretty useless.

I completed all story events and researched all upgrades. Maybe there is more to discover in the endgame, but if it is close to those stupid which - puzzles I can live without it.

The game has potential, for sure. I will definitely come back after a few updates to check it out once again. For now, I can't recommend it.

Overpowered troops? Yes please!
Insane grind? You got it!
Maps that allow spawncamping? Who wouldn't want that!
Did you want to play the game? Here, have infinite CC!
Pay2Win? Gimme your money!

(The concept of controlling your own troops from a 3rd person perspective and leading them into combat against other players is pretty unique, sadly the game doesn't make the most out of it)
((And installing these weird Anti-Cheats is always scary))
