Rainbow Six Siege has been a staple in the gaming community for ages. It is one of the most well designed and graphically astounding games to this day. I've played siege for several years and although, like any other game, I do get burnt out time to time. Coming back to the game after a few months and seeing the constant changes that the game developers are making is always great. For example, the recent rank game changes and the removal of placement matches have made the game much more fun and less RNG dependent like before. However, this change is controversial as it does allow for faster and easier rank ups. I feel as if it was ultimately a good change for the lifespan of the game because it made the competitive side of the game less rage educing. Additionally, contrary to popular youtubers, the meta in siege is always evolving. Even though rank may feel stale due to almost identical bans taking place every game and the same site setups fizzling into every round. That is what you expect in ranked, the operator selection changes but the "meta" doesn't move much, which I can understand might get annoying. But when you hit the "start matchmaking" button why would you expect anything other than the best strategies for the competitive side of the game? Therefore, I think the basis of siege is well built and has stayed that way for several years. Additionally, I don't see siege dying in the near future. As for some unique characteristics that the game has to offer... it has wall-bangable structures. This mean you can shoot people through "soft walls"; however, defenders have the ability to reinforce certain walls to fortify their certain objective: secure area, bomb, or hostage. Additionally, each operator has a certain gadget that aid their team or themselves in different ways. Since this is a fast paced shooter but also a tactical FPS each team gets some informational utility. For the most part, attackers get two drones and one will be used in the prep phase, where you attempt to find the objective whilst the defensive side is fortifying it with utility and reinforcements. If this drone is kept alive then you get to keep it in addition to your other one. Drones are a great source of finding where defender utility is and where the defenders are themselves. In contrast, on the defensive side your information is more limited. You don't get a drive-able drone. You get a set of pre-placed cameras around the major choke holds on the map, but just like attackers drones, they can be shot one time and will be out for the remainder of the round. Most of this review has been talking about the competitive side of siege because that is what I have the most experience in. However, for the more casual player, ubisoft offers game modes such as casual and team deathmatch. There are also custom games you game make to play with just your friends. Thus, I believe siege is a fantastic game but is far too complex to describe in a review. it is just not a point and click game which is why I find it so intriguing and enjoyable to play. So, if you were considering buying this game but it was too much of a financial decision, wait for a Christmas or Summer sale. The game is much cheaper during these times, but if 20$ is cheap for you than I highly recommend giving this game a try, its fantastic.
