Early Access Review
extraction shooter + destiny 2 + doom eternal + hades + dark souls = not something I thought would be this addicting

one of my favorite games to play especially on steam deck, I didnt think much of it at first considering the simple visuals and premise but they somehow managed to make a 2d pixelated jet feel so mechanically versatile and satisfying to learn and progress with. The bosses were especially fun

super fun little game, it totally seems like something that could have a free for all mode at some point but I know thats not the point, regardless, the amount of map variety and weapon randomization makes each round super interesting

ah and the music is fire

Very fun game, however, it is very intensive on my hardware and has a lot of noticeable fps drops, im unsure if this is because of my PC specs or the optimization but the game did just release so it’s bound to improve over time.

the story is short and honestly not complicated seeing as it follows up on the first game, it is a pretty niche story in of itself and I found it hard to feel attached to the characters as they spend 75% of their time together bickering, the best story bits are shown within the worlds in of themselves and the interactions within the imperium of man, and seeing this was the most fascinating part of the story as a newcomer to the warhammer world.

Gameplay is awesome, it’s one of those games that brings in some not exactly new but rather very seamless and very intuitive mechanics to a third person shooter/hack and slash that just make the game very satisfying to look at and play, the parry and dodge mechanics reward the player with executions and damage bursts that make you feel like a badass, my favorite part of these fights were especially the boss fights and larger or tankier enemies like the tunneling or the cloaked tyrannids, the quick time parry/dodge mechanics make learning how to fight them a lot more fun than you think they’d be, it’s a shame there are so few boss fights in the campaign, however I chose to play the game on normal so Its likely to be different on the higher difficulties. I personally enjoy fighting the tyrannids much more than the chaos’s forces, you’d think that there would be more rubric marines that move and fight not too dissimilarly to the space marines but most of them that were placed just stand from a distance trying to pick at your health with their guns while teleporting to different locations, with the exception of the bigger guys who do charge at you but I found that they don’t appear much in the normal difficulty, the enemy humans are a joke and the rest of the tzaangor forces are just not as interesting or satisfying to kill as it is with the bugs.

Good game all the same

Good game in terms of community content, physics, gameplay. ♥♥♥♥ menu UI, music, subscription based service. If Ubisoft gave two ♥♥♥♥♥ about this game they'd remove the misleading F2P ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ subscription model and make it a pay once to play kind of thing like any sensible video game would be.

absolutely goated game for the steam deck with a bit of graphics tweaking, easy 65 fps throughout almost every map
