The core of the game is amazing. It has something all the modern games lack: a soul. The story, dialogue, atmosphere, soundtrack, visuals, gameplay systems... everything is so meticulously crafted....and for that reason, the devs have my respect. That being said, it has such a long list of problems that i'm not even capable of remembering all of them to dissert. The combat related ones are probably never going to be addressed, so at least in that aspect, what you see is what you get. They are fixing the rest though, so i will focus on what i don't see changing.

Combat has some absolutely terrible design decisions. Everything but parry feels so unreliable and punishing for all the wrong reasons.

- Attacks that go way beyond their visual representation, The enemy already has insane attack tracking(Something our poor garbage tier Cerim doesn't possess), why make it invisible too?

- Hordes of enemies to fight, when the entire system is designed in a way that you can only win a fight 1v1. The devs realized it was easy to turtle trough every enemy, so this is just their lazy curve ball.

- Enemy stagger system that feels more like a gamble than anything. He's staggered? i'm gonna smack him! oh no, he randomly decided he's not staggered anymore because he mind read me mid animation lock and took 70% of my life.

- Have you ever played vs a fighting game boss? that cheap style of difficulty is basically the "AI" base of every single enemy of this game, but worse, You can never attack, even when given the opportunity because the enemies will blatantly input read you and punish your offense with a faster attack while you are animation locked. Even fighting game devs know this is cheap and stupid, so they make it so the cpu won't read you EVERY time....these devs didn't come to that realization though, and it feels awful.

Unfortunately, all the loud morons will ensure they never work on it, "because i like my *****difficulty****", so take it or leave it.

This is the best option out there if you are trying to make an unique RPG with no coding knowledge. It's so open ended you can come up with almost anything. Even though it's to be expected, and i don't think there's much that can be done about it, the engine comes with the drawback of being way more complex than RPG maker, so it will take a while to master.

Do not be fooled by the Chibi art style(speaking as a Chibi hater myself), give the game a try and i guarantee you will not be disappointed. The game is very high quality in all aspects and the love and care put into it can be felt in every corner. It really feels like the games of old.

- Pretty interesting story mode with a very good system of unlockables(including new modes) to give that feeling of reward for completing single player stuff. It may lack the level of content of bigger games like SF6, but it's definitely above average when it comes to fighting games.

- Rollback netcode

- Every character has a fun, unique playstyle. The devs didn't hold back on giving them fun tools to play with, which may lead to balance problems once we figure out what's good, but that's not really a problem seeing how fast they are doing patches.

- They managed to make Chibi characters look badass, that's all i can say lol. Several references to famous characters in each of their colors, putting a lot of the recent bigger name games to shame in this aspect really.

- Very good training mode, with even a hitbox viewer.

- The soundtrack is godlike! i was quite surprised by how good it is.

-Fairly certain the game's competitive scene will get big because it's a fun game to watch too.

The game has some bugs and all for some people, like not being able to find others lobbies, but with how fast they are working, that won't be a problem for long.

Amazing product!

Even though i would still recommend this game to someone who has never played another fighting game in their life(and only in this case!), as they will still be able to enjoy the fundamental fun every FG possesses, i cannot in my right mind give it a positive review with these design flaws that ruin the fun:

-Damage is too high. You will die in 2 interactions most of the time. Even when you win, it will feel hollow, as more often than not, Rounds aren't won by outplays and sorta "just happen".....now try to imagine how you will feel on losses lol

-The wall mechanic. The guy who worked to put you in the corner doesn't get to benefit that much from his positioning advantage, as it's hard to not break the wall, making screen control feel less worth. The one who got cornered will still get messed up by the extra damage and positive bonus he's about to deal with. It brings nothing good to both players outside of cool looking stage transitions, just a hassle.

-Small move list for characters. It didn't bother me that much at the start, but you really start to feel a bit limited and bored after playing the same character for a while.

If more people gave their honest reviews, this game would have nowhere near it's unwarranted 92% approval.
