I really liked Rivals 1 but coming to this game, everything is just too dumb downed. There's too many players that are mashing and/or playing disrespectful, too many safe moves or options to where you cant really punish players for making incorrect choices or plays, and some mechanics like breaking a 50/50 grab don't even matter because the players can just mash out an option and you lose the interaction. i really hope this fix this game but this trend of fighting games becoming easier to play by reducing skill, system mechanics and full-on aggressive isn't going away anytime soon.

Came back to this 2 months later, and the game hasn't changed much. Slow Updates like tutorials for newer players, roadmap updates are back logged from what it seems (Menu UI and more from what we were supposed to get last year), and characters/ mechanics haven't been changed, so mash and aggression is still running rampant to where new players can't enjoy the game causally or feel like they can learn matchups. I can't even relearn Etalus in this game in causal online because it's too sweaty and characters have little to no lag still, i dont know how to punish effectively, which doesnt matter most of the time. Players dont play neutral at all in this game to where they're just pressing buttons from fullscreen and it just work because moves have too much priority and little recovery. Like i said before, this trend of fighting games becoming easier to play by reducing skill, system mechanics and full-on aggressive isn't going away anytime soon, and it's sad that a small indie game like this fell prey to it after their first one was amazing.
