Alright, so first off, Sid Meier's Civilization V is just an amazing game. And although playing against the AIs is fun, the real fun begins as soon as you start multiplayer, especially with friends.

You don't know pain until you spawn in on a hill, on a river, next to a mountain, and with salt, just to have some other player get Venice or the Iroquois and it's an automatic restart. Or the pain of never being able to let a worker build freely because of the fear of your "friends" declaring war for no reason except to take your worker and delete it in your territory before trying to make peace. You will learn the sudden horror when you look at demographics midway through a game and seeing that an adjacent player has just tripled their military size and already has godforsaken Keshiks lining your borders.

"No," they say, "It's just border patrol, I have no intention of declaring war."

This was not the case...

Anyway, the best way to play Civ V multiplayer is as follows:
1. Spawn in
2. Explore and find the nearest player
3. Forward settle the ♥♥♥♥ out of them
4. Continue expanding and prepare for the inevitable war that follows forward settling anyone
5. Be at war with said player for far too long and refuse peace out of pride
6. Fall exponentially behind all other players in science and manufactoring
7. Both you and your war enemy quit the game because there is no chance of winning
8. Do not learn from your mistakes and repeat
9. (sorry greg)

Alright, this brings me to the singleplayer aspect of the game. The singleplayer is great because depending on the kind of game you want to have, it can either be a challenge or practically Sim City where you can just Wonder-spam your way to an inevitable science/diplomatic/cultural victory. I have several problems with the singleplayer mode and they are as follows:

-- The AI go Piety... In case you are new to Civ, all you need to know is, do not go Piety, especially not first. It's very simple, there is Tradition, and there is Liberty, just pretend Piety doesn't exist... Anyway, this is true of AI of all difficulties

-- Why is it that when, out of the pure generosity of my heart, decide to help another Civ with a barbarian problem and make sure to man an entire army outside of his/her borders on all sides with noticable seige units, that they confront me and think I plan to declare war on them??? I'm not an animal, I have no intention of declaring war, the units were merely on auto-explor.... er, border patrol. The AI is FAR too hasty with these accusations, it was going to be at least 2 more turns before I even was going to be close to declaring war

-- Also CIv, why do you rig the game towards the City States?? Why can't I spawn in with a natural wonder within 1 tile of my borders????

-- And why don't my cities grow to control tiles that I actually need, like literally any strategic resource?? I've had games where my capital was priotitizing spreading to deep ocean tiles instead of uranium. Like, please Civ, please.

-- Lastly, please unfix Ghandi, I miss the endless torment of horror that ensued passing a certain era against Ghandi.

Anywho, Civ V is a great game, I recommend getting the complete edition, because, come on, what's the point otherwise?
