At first, I'd marked this game as 'No' because achievement grinding was an absolute pain. However, I've played this a couple dozen times (first played I believe in 2012 or 2013 on the Xbox 360), and I always seem to find myself coming back to it every few months to a year. Music is this game strongest point, as per usual when it comes to a Square Enix game. Graphics hold up well for a game released in 2009 as well. Story is fine. It takes a bit for the characters to grow on you; though, I'm a soft person and they grew on me quick. Except for Snow--I still find him annoying.

The game is a slow start up, like... REALLY. REALLY. REALLY slow. Which is why a lot of people have gripes with this game. The first 10 chapters are all hallways, until you reach chapter 11 which is where you actually get to the open world that SE had advertised in the trailers when they came out. I enjoy this game tons. The combat is also something people really HATE too, since there isn't much variety for abilities from the get-go. The game does get punishing if you don't properly level your Crystarium or Weapons.

It took me about 75ish hours to 100% it.

Mainly played on PS4/PS5 for ~2.8k hours and now I play on PC. It's kinda buggy using a controller. Keyboard is too complicated for my small brain. Only gripe is there's no way i can transfer my stuff from PS5 and I'm sad I can't use any of the hundreds of skins I've bought. Won't be spending anymore money. Please let me move my stuff.

Game can be fun, but matchmaking makes me want to rip my hair out sometimes.

Improved combat from the PSP version, I didn't have much of a problem this time around. better graphics, but it also has weird movement from characters being overly expressive/gesturing a lot when they don't have much being said. Reuses the old cutscenes, but I think that's fine. There are new VAs for the main cast. I don't really mind it much, but I had to get used to Zack's though. He kinda felt grating with certain lines. Oh, and if you like cheesy or cringey dialogue--there's a bunch! People might find it annoying sometimes, but I think it's cute! I liked the original a lot, so I don't have much of a complaint there.

I'd say give it a shot!

I'd say wait until a sale!! It's worth getting this game at some point. Zack is one of my favorite FF protags.

(Writing this, I completed the game on Normal Mode 31/51 with achievements and am working on Hard Mode now.)

I've played this game 4 times--
2 times on PS4 and 2 times on PS5.

I'm so happy to have waited for it to come to Steam after its exclusive addition to Epic.
Gotta get all these achievements too! I still haven't even touched Intermission either, so I have that to look forward to.

I also ran into one bug in chapter 13-- all the enemies (which were actual bugs by the way) despawned and Tifa was awkwardly shuffling in place, so I had to reload to fix it. Other than that, it runs pretty well on PC! Still looks beautiful, too ^^

Bad Remaster.

It was going okay within the first few moments, but the lighting is abysmal with the characters being either WAY too bright, or changing the pigments of a character's skin/hair with every moment that passes. Character models t-pose especially when you're nearing the end of the game. Rachel and Chloe were t-posing as they're trying to have a serious conversation, etc. I don't understand how the game got to be so buggy when it's supposed to be an 'upgrade' from the original.

Don't waste your money.

Fun game. I'm just... not really here for story. It's just a generic plot. Sorry, I like spamming the skip button and killing anything and everything I can find. Characters personalities are whatever; however, I've found myself liking certain character designs! Map/Landscapes are decent to OK. Character creator is fun--you can make some damn pretty player characters and I'm here for it. It's good challenge especially when I solo dungeons on Hard mode (I'm dumb ik.)

Gunner is my favorite class (only one I've done so far, but I might try out the others just cuz). I hope this game does well because I know I'll be logging as many hours after work and on days off.

Also, small but annoying bug: I play on controller--when I spam B to skip when it's a cutscene, the game skips the cutscene, but the B button stops registering so I'm not able to use any skills that utilize the B button. Thought I'd point that out.

Other than that, decent game! I recommend it if you wanna just kill things and don't mind the grind. (As of now, I'm at level 22.)

Oh, it also sucks how classes are gender locked.
