For anyone thinking about trying the game, there’s going to be a big content patch on January 15th, while having the game go free to play.

The game before then was in much worse shape, and it is a night and day difference.

I highly recommend only reading reviews on and after that date, and definitely take reviews with less than 15hrs with a grain of salt.

Personally, i’ve only played for about 2-3 weeks during winter break due to uni, but (pre-update) I am confident in saying it’s enjoyability is about as par as Smite 1 at the moment. Following that, I am also confident that it can only get better from here; that’s why I would recommend trying it.

Great story, great gameplay. Almost perfect, just needs VA's for dialogue to be a 10/10. If they happen to do a crowdfunding to get that going, like how Library of Ruina did, I would instantly support it. Only other thing is the 'common' enemy unpredictability and somewhat bland fights. Having minor effects (in between cursed fights and not) that affects you/your deck would make fights feel fresh. I haven't played on the Hard difficulty yet, so maybe they have it there.

Also accidentally left the game on overnight so probably take off 15hr or so on my total playtime. Almost at the true ending but still have 2 more characters to unlock nor have I played the other gamemodes. So it has great replayability imo.

Also music is fantastic, sheesh.

The meta humor and commentary in this game makes it all worth it, very enjoyable. Only bad part are the task systems, they should have made it where any task could be technically completed in any area.

Pretty good, game is pretty short though. You can beat the game WAY quicker than you can complete town quests, mostly because they are very specific. Not much incentive to go back and 100% unlock everything due to the short length of each run, so you don't really get to flesh out any op combos you manage to find. This game was pretty fun, but I will only suggest grabbing it on sale, $15 max imo.

Also this game is not at all challenging if you've played a deck rogue before, just a couple gimmick enemy mechanics is all.

Wanted to enjoy the game, but I can not. Game crashes pretty frequently and I encountered soft locks that could only be fixed by force closing the game.

Online mode is a downgrade from Storm 4 with no noticeable improvements in connection stability (many server dc's), in fact, it's an even worse experience than previous titles as you are forced to fight against players with bad connections (red bars). You can't back out of a lobby when they randomly match you with someone, so enjoy playing against red bar jutsu spam/shield break teams against your will.

It sucks since I was VERY excited for this game release, for the 7 years that they had, they did not change much. The combat was spruced up a bit, for better (Characters have 2 jutsu instead of 1, Comboing feels more fluid) and for worse (Many jutsu are mini atomic bombs that fill the screen and you have no clue what is happening). I could get used to the change and it would be that big of a deal, but when you take account that this is all that was managed in 7 years while asking for a $60++ ($85 for all character) pricetag, then you can see why this is not a good look.

I have 2.5 hours logged on the game because I really wanted to enjoy it and not refund it, but there are just way too many cons over pros for this game to justify spending time on it, let alone spending money; at least for release asking price. Hopefully steam doesn't see the 2.5 hours as too egregious and I am able to get a refund. Perhaps in a few months I may come back to it when it's on sale and QoL patches have been made.
