I thought it might be worth posting a review as a noob (6 hours so far) and as someone who tends to play FPS games and who has never played this kind of game before.
I will start off by saying that with most new games I get I will perhaps play for an hour or so for my first sitting but with this game I clocked up nearly 4 hours and only stopped as I had to sleep for work.
Most people probably already know the premise: 4 survivors vs 1 killer, 5x generators need to be repaired so a door can be opened for you all to escape etc, so I won't go on about that.

In the lobby you can send chats but once in game there is no voice, so you cannot talk to your team mates. This is actually a great thing as it avoids abuse etc and it would make the killers job a lot harder as you could tip each other off as to the killers location. The closest I got to toxic rage was when I was trying to help repair a generator and kept screwing up the skill test which causes the generator to make a loud bang which alerts the killer to your location. The other guy was running in circles and flashing his flashlight at me, so I can only imagine the abuse I would have got over voice (sorry bro lol).

You can go it alone but it is definitely a lot better if you help each other by healing and rescuing your team mates. If you are like me and screw up the skill test, it can be better to find your own generator to repair rather than annoy the others by alerting the killer to yours and their location. For the most part though, I found people are generally very nice and are keen to work together, in fact the game kinda encourages team work due to the killer being quite over powered.

Edit: turns out it is far harder to be the killer than I realised. They can mess you up if they catch you but keeping track of 4 other players is actually very challenging!

Make no mistake though, you will be a victim to the killer pretty swiftly to start off with, my first two matches I don't think I lasted more than 3 minutes. But you quickly learn and so far I have managed to survive at least 4 matches and started multiple generators (despite failing the skill test again lol).

So the game looks good enough and runs okay, though it is limited to 62fps by default this is easy enough to fix. The levels are procedurally generated but don't feel like they are and they are all suitably grim and dark as you would want in this kind of game. I found matches fairly quickly though it can be frustrating having players enter and leave the lobby all the time or not go ready so you have to wait for the entire count down. I also got put into lobbies with 400+ ping a few times, so I guess this may be why others leave the lobby too.

I could go on a lot more but considering nobody will probably read this and most of you no doubt know enough about the game I will end up by saying that I think this game is a lot of fun and well worth the money. Especially surprising as I tend to mostly play FPS games or old school RTS games.

Highly recommended, best game I have added to my collection in months.
