So Little Orbit acquired this game about a year ago, though they did some positive things and improved the game ever so slightly, the main issues which caused the the bad state of the game still stand. Servers are crap, ghost shots, jumpy latency, lack of content, and ... . sometimes I log in for the sake of nostalgia and after spending 2 or 3 missions in an action district, I quit. I personally don't have a problem with any of the mentioned problems but what really keeps me from playing this game is the cheating. 4/5 times you are going to get matched against hackers who straight up don't miss a shot no matter how frantically you jump around and try to dodge (bonus fact: they always know where you are). I have seen blatant aimbotters and speed hackers get to 200+ levels without getting banned. So as someone who has +2000 hours on this game I urge you to do yourself a favor and play something else.
