I usually don't leave reviews, but this game really hits the spot. It feels unique for an action roguelike, with interesting visuals and distinct character choices that make a difference for each playthrough. The unique traits for each character give the opportunity to build the way you like to play regardless of how a character's kit starts out. This game scales with player count, which helps it not feel too easy as a group. In early access at this moment, the game only has 2 chapters and 9 characters, but it doesn't feel stale or repetitive thanks to map layout changing each run, unlocking new traits with levels, and playing a variety of complimenting characters solo or with up to 3 other players. My personal favorite aspect of the game has to be the character designs, as they look interesting, are animated well, have unique and interesting voices/lines, and all compliment their abilities perfectly. Their abilities make sense and are fun to use. There are a lot of small details that I can appreciate seeing, like animation tweaks for specific trait upgrades, that show how much effort the devs put in. I'm looking forward to further content updates.

Dead Island: Epidemic is a wonderful game to play with friends. I also very much enjoy the variety of characters and weapons. But, even if I wouldn't consider this game "grinding simulator 2015" I do have to say that getting character points is sort of repetitive and hard work. That much said, I think one main improvement the game needs when it's updated or adjusted somewhat is the matchmaking waiting times (also, yes I do know this game is in beta so this should be expected). This game is really fun. It's good attributes make up for the sometimes awful matchmaking waiting times, Crossroads can be played millions of times yet it still is fun, and everything about it is just... well, wonderful. The game gives a good feel in general and I highly reccomend it to people that play things like Dota or League of Legends.
One last thought: When the game is updated, character models should be a bit more polished. I would also enjoy to see different characters having different stance appearances when holding weapons.
