I love this game, I like it more than the original. this game looks and sounds amazing. the story is good the difficulty and pacing are great. Runs great and looks great. overall replay-ability is high and the game-play is satisfying

I have to say this game is absolutely incredible. First off this game looks and sounds amazing. The game runs absolutely superb considering the sheer amount that can be going on onscreen.

The fully voiced story and banter between your character and the mech you use are engaging enough to keep you interested in the story. The story is pretty barebones for the most part the whole end goal is to build a Rift portal back to earth (basically the same as building the rocket in Factorio).

The DLC are an absolute must with their own incredible stories and worlds, they add a bunch of stuff to the already massive tech tree and research tree.

Overall 10/10 game highly recommend.

As of right now the game has exceeded my expectations. The visuals are great, the sounds and animations are great so far its great. The mechanics are really simple to understand and the game is fairly challenging. Very intense and has me clenching my cheeks often.

Currently my only complaint is its a little repetitive but once more maps and or objectives are added I think it will be less so.

I am also worried that since they are not adding any custom servers that the game will die fairly fast if not updated regularly with content to keep people playing it

First off I was very skeptical of this. Now is it worth $70? Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. The campaign was really good I would say it was worth at least $35-$40. Multiplayer isn't anything special its MW 2019 2.0 its not that different which Is fine. Game issues. I have not had that many issues with the game. It runs better than MW2019, it looks as good if not slightly better, it crashes less for me (in multiplayer).
I did have a bad crashing issue on 1 specific mission in campaign that anytime I would die it would lock up while respawning and I would have to restart the game. Other than that the bugs have been very minor so tbh I don't really get where people are coming from when they say this game is a technical nightmare and completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up

I am gonna leave it as positive for now as I do really find the game enjoyable. I also would like to address some of the other reviews I am seeing.

I keep seeing people say its laggy and buggy. I have yet to run into any bugs personally that would effect gameplay so I can't say anything about that however the game runs perfectly fine and the servers are perfectly fine IF you are playing on YOUR countries servers. It is rubber bandy on overseas servers so just stick to your servers and you should be fine.
As for the apparent cheating epidemic I also have yet to run into a cheater or at least if they were cheating they weren't very obvious about it but from what i'm reading they are pretty blatent I guess. If I had to guess the cheaters are probably mostly on the Asian servers and from what I have read in the discussions for the game it seems thats the case. So steer clear of Asian servers if you can?

As for the grind that some are complaining about. I will say its ehhhh. Its not a super slog like some games but it does take a while to unlock the new weapon tiers and class abilities. You require an in game credit (that you earn not buy) to unlock attachment slots and weapons and you do get very little of them from just strictly playing the game and winning. Doing tasks does reward you with a good bit but some of the tasks are total cancer, for instance "get 50 shotgun kills" Well shotguns are total di** and balls so thats basically out of the question.

TLDR
Game runs fine just stick to your own servers (you can select which servers u want in the main menu at the bottom)
Its fun and pretty enjoyable alone or with friends. PVP is pretty rewarding.

After the season one update the game somehow runs WORSE than it did at launch, the new content is lackluster and the new missile launcher is overpowered. Vehicle play is still totally unbalanced and the guns still hit about as hard as an airsoft gun. The game still has garbage hit detection even with a really solid connection to the server. the only thing this game has going for it is above average sound design but that alone isn't even close to enough to fix this dumpster fire of a game. The fact that Arma 3 ( a game with nutritiously ♥♥♥♥ performance) runs far better than the 2042 main menu is a testament to how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the performance is in 2042. I can get better performance out of Arma 3 on my Radeon 7870 HD 2gb and FX8350 than I can on 2042 with a ryzen 7 2700x and a 3070ti. On low graphics nonetheless

TLDR great game for the price has enough content to keep you engaged and is truly a unique vr experience. Knuckles controllers can be a bit ergonomically challenging at times but other controllers should be fine, a little experience with knuckles controllers in this game should help you overcome the challenges

Honestly one of the more terrifying VR games in my opinion. Love the game and nearly everything about it. Obviously the game takes HEAVY inspiration from the STALKER games and I think it does it really well. It isn't a 1 to 1 copy by any means but it is inspired.

I will start with the downsides first.
1 the color pallet is really dull, its grey, a different shade of grey, maybe some orange, and a bit of black and brown. It does fit the world really well but for me it can be taxing on the eyes at times.

2 it being an early access game obviously everything is subject to change and it has changed a lot, after their most recent major update though it probably has evened out a bit and nothing super major will probably change for a while.

last but not least the animations can be a little jank at times, grabbing a pistol with 2 hands while using knuckles controllers can be a bit challenging at times, I also played the game on an Oculus headset in the past and it was personally a better experience ergonomically however after a little practice with the knuckles you should be fine.

Positives
the games progression is fairly balanced and depending on your difficulty settings it shouldn't be too challenging, certain enemy types will be harder to combat making killing them potentially high risk high reward no matter what difficulty you play on.

There is a lot to explore in the world and a lot to unlock back at your hideout, for a game made by so few people it truly does have a good amount of content. A good amount of guns and ammo types, different equipment to use and lots of enemy types.

As for the story, I never finished the story before they reworked it and im currently playing through it now but so far so good, its just engaging enough to keep you going, and isn't too complicated and convoluted so it shouldn't be hard to understand.

TLDR: Absolutely stunning and amazing game. Great story and an awesome world

I think I actually enjoyed this game more than the first one honestly and I absolutely loved the first one. The world has nice variety the fauna, the plants, and the biomes are all beautifully created and quite unique from 1 another. The entire story was thrilling and the ending has me wanting more. A few complaints I guess is at times finding specific resources like lead for instance is like playing Russian roulette. Will I get lead or will I get more titanium that I don't need. I will admit I did have to google the locations of some of the resources or areas because I had felt like I explored a whole area just to find out there was a cave that I somehow completely missed. Overall an absolutely fantastic game 100% worth the money.
