Just to preface this review I have been playing regularly since closed beta.

I have played Hearthstone and PokemonTCG in the past but dropped off due to their economies or because of the gameplay not being stimulating enough in the long term, but for me MTG is near untouchable for enjoyment. In terms of this game the core game play for me is what has kept me playing since closed beta, just the fact there are is so much creativity with deck
builds, and the way that some of the matches can swing back and forth, or rely on a critical well timed maneuver. Keeps it feeling
fresh and satisfying.

Now this game is not too generous when you initially start out, if you play it semi regularly though you can soon craft some decent decks and the rate you gain cards can compound as you use gold for drafts semi regularly as well . Though note this game does suffer from your typical nickle and dime the players bs, and they are so bad at it, that it is painfully obvious to anyone whom is somewhat of a hardcore gamer.
There are too many instances to list but i can recommend to check the games subreddit for more info/examples.

All this said I do still recommend the game as in my case, I had been fond of magic since around 2013 but I didn't want to get sucked into the financial pit that is paper magic, so I just hoped the game would one day have a good f2p version and forgot about it. Cut forward to today and in my case this is the best way to experience magic outside of investing in the paper version.
Though note the state of WOTC and their corporate intentions of squeezing the players. The game is still somewhat generous, and though the game is lacking 3+ player formats, the formats that do exist still have some variation.

So if you are fine with the issues( I don't see them changing anytime soon) and have liked MTG or are considering trying MTG I would recommend this game.
