Game's alright. Played it for a few hours, think it has some potential.

(This is easily my favorite game of all time. The start can be daunting to new players, but it is worth it to push through. Helps a lot to have a friend to guide your early steps. We all lift together, Tenno.)

I started playing this game a few years ago. It quickly became one of my favorite shooters thanks to the incredible atmosphere, amazing gunplay, and tense encounters. I started during the Traitor's Moon event, and had the assumption that the event pacing was pretty slow. A month long event a few times a year. It didn't take long before the game turned into seasons rather than events, with pretty dramatic gameplay changes tied to it. The patch times took way to long to rebalance new traits and weapons (and fix bugs) introduced in these events.

The balance philosophy took a turn shortly before the big engine upgrade and relaunch into Hunt 1896. Since then, performance took a dive for many players, bugs have persisted for months (and in some cases get fixed then reintroduced in the next patch), and many balance changes and equipment additions didn't sit right with a good portion of the playerbase. Do I even need to mention the horrendous state of the UI (many reviews talk about this already)? And the most recent issue with the "Ghostface" DLC which crosses a line that the game has been really good at staying away from until now.

All of this to say, this game has the potential to be as good as it was before. They need to stop with the patches being one step forward, two steps back. They need to actually listen to feedback and get on top of issues faster. They need to realize that the changes being made recently are leading the game further away from what it once was and alienating the players that stuck with it for all these years. As it stands now, I can't say that I would recommend this game to anyone, despite how much fun it has the potential to be. My recommendation would be to check back in a few months, and see if they've improved, or sunk further into the mess they are creating.
