What are ya buyin'?

Replayed it for the first time since it came out on PS2. Still holds up pretty well.
This game is like a perfect combination of horror and action + sprinkled with some comedy moments.
I really don't have any issues with the game, the only thing that threw me off at first was the FOV and controls, but I got used to it really fast.
Soundtrack is fantastic, really brings out the creepiness and horror of some sections.

Overall, I totally recommend it. Controls and camera might turn off some people from playing it, but give it a chance, it really pays off in the end.

As a long time Half-Life franchise fan, all I can say is...

Valve is back!

I've never tried VR before, nor was I a fan of it, I always saw it as another "gimmick". Since I'm deep inside Half-Life community, I was pretty much aware of all the leaks over the last 2-3 years about another Half-Life title, made in VR. I was thrown off by that, but if you know Valve, you know Half-Life has always been used to push something new and groundbreaking, so new Half-Life game in VR was expected.
Half-Life: Alyx is announced, trailer is released and my mind was blown away by how good it looks. Last time I bought a new PC specifically for video game was, you guessed it, Half-Life 2 (and Doom 3) back in 2004. So it was time for me to do it again... and I did!
Bought a new PC and VR headset Samsung Odyssey+,best low budget VR headset apparently. I didn't want to go for the super expensive stuff in case I end up not tolerating the motion sickness or not liking it that much.
Right from the get go, game blows you away with how visually impressive and immersive it is! I now realize why it had to be in VR, if you see videos of it, flat monitors don't do it justice, at all. They really nailed the atmosphere of the world, it totally feels like another Half-Life game. The world, locations, all the small details... Gunplay is great, I had no issues with my controls, everything was smooth and had no motion sickness at all (was using teleportation, I tried to use locomotion, but got sickness instantly, so I just ditched it for now, will focus on it in the future maybe.) What impressed me the most though was the sound design and animations (especially scripted sequences). Also I didn't expect game to be this long, especially for a VR game, but it took me around 10 hours on my first playthrough (was exploring most of the time). Chapter highlights 7 and 11, I won't spoil anything, but my God... What a masterfully crafted chapters. I had no technical issues, was running it smoothly on 90fps on High settings.
There were of course some minor issues I had, but nothing game breaking or similar. The only biggest issue for me is that enemies AI (Combine soldiers specifically) is bad. I mean, they'll usually stand in one place, if you throw grenade at them, 9 times out of 10 they'll just stand in place and wait to get blown up, rarely flank you etc. But I believe that was intentional, because Valve expected a lot of "newcomers" to VR and didn't want to make them super difficult to deal with and throw people off.

Overall, a great comeback to Half-Life world! Totally worth the price, especially the 44$ price!
Congratulations Valve, you did a fantastic job and I can't wait to see more, hopefully not in another 13 years though :)
