I'd first like to start off with saying, If you think DS2 is perfectly balanced and fair. Then you'll LOVE this DLC :)

Now on with the review.

Ok, so I just beat this DLC and I can say that almost all of the bosses are heavily unbalanced. They have extremely long combos that chain 3-4 fast attacks back to back with some delays in-between. The downtime between each combo is so low that you're forced to choose between dealing damage or healing after every chain.

If you get hit, you have to dodge the next chain of attacks to heal back up
[(Get Hit) -> Dodge -> Heal -> Dodge].
That's 2 missed opportunities to deal damage. so the fight basically goes like this:

EX. rotation
Dodge -> Attack -> (Get Hit) -> Dodge -> Heal -> (Get Hit) -> Dodge -> Heal -> Dodge -> Attack.

^^^ THIS IS FOR EVERY ALMOST EVERY BOSS IN THE DLC ^^^

If you decide not to dodge the next chain after getting hit, you die cause by the time you finish your 'get-up' animation and are healing, the boss is already swinging at you with a combo that kills you in 1-2 hits. Some even kill you if you take damage even once at a bad time Gaius I'm talking about you.

This in combination with the bosses dealing so much damage that they kill you in 1-2 hits even if your at 60 vit makes the game way to challenging for the average player.

If FromSoft just increased the downtime between boss attacks and fixed the camera and lock-on points for some of the big bosses (I'm talking about you Bayle and hippo)

FYI: I played without summons running a STR/FAI double Halberd jump attack build and I think that flower boss was the best. Definitely a great concept.

- Hollow Knight
- Blasphemous
- Dead Cells

I wish you didn't have to stay stationary while attacking though

Cons:
Combat and movement feels jank. The combo abilities sometimes dont activate. definitely not as smooth as Hollow Knight or Blasphemous.

Pros:
the weapon variety is good. crafting them felt good. exploration and story is also good.

TLDR - Everyone should try this game. (I mean come on its $5)

If you liked vampire survivors and thought that game was too easy, then this game is for you. Each of the different characters feel amazing to play (My fav is the exterminator). This game allows you to upgrade base stats when you level up in addition to the weapon upgrades allowing for more build diversity. For $5 this game is a must buy

One gripe I have about this game is that you can only recover one item per run and there is no x2 speed feature in this game. You have to lock in 30+ min for each run making it more of a time commitment for those of you guys that have jobs.
