this game is a solid 7.5/10, its like every rpg fromsoft game meshed into one, for better and for worse. but still contains its own identity. the devs constantly update and fix the game which is a breath of fresh air in an industry full of out of touch, lazy devs and even greedier corporate executives. maybe there will be DLC later down the line, but at the time of writing i have no clue if there will be.
here is what the game does well: PVE weapon and spell balancing, while some are options clearly more op than others, most but not all weapons and dual wielding are viable with the right strategy and patience.
area progression difficulty scaling, outside of certain enemies (im talking maybe 2 or 3) most enemies and bosses really do help you figure out what areas you should or shouldnt be in yet, or if you need to farm a bit and pump up some stats.
area design is great, everything looks amazing in both the regular and the umbral
graphics and optimization: not a week goes by without the devs finding ways to make this game run better and better on all types of systems. keep in mind, turning lighting settings to high or above activate ray tracing, but medium lighting still looks incredible.
NG+ system, this game's ng+ system (as of writing, not on launch) is one of the best but also ass blastingly difficult systems implemented in any souls-like to date. as it literally will remove vestiges (or bonfires) locations and force you to invest time and resources in the ability to build your own bonfires in the best spots possible, on ng+3 there are only 2 set bonfires, one at the hub area and one in a fairly unimportant shrine.
and what the game lacks in:
multiplayer, when it works its great however, pvp is an unbalanced mess of oneshots and cheese. co-op, while fun is spotty with its netcode and disconnects are very frequent. cheaters broke the anti-cheat and basically shut off crossplay for the foreseeable future. if you are on console, ive heard the multiplayer is much better on so take that in stride.
apart from the main bosses with remembrances, most bosses are pretty lackluster and are just basic enemies with inflated stats.

so, since the update on august 11th, this game RARELY crashes. there is a for sure way to crash the game with msi afterburner if you overclock anything but your fans. this game is basically a mix of the good parts of stealth from assassins creed, the open world of skyrim and a combat experience that heavily rewards both strategy with knowing what parts stagger/deal extra damage or knowing/abusing pathing with loads of traps. my only sort of grip i have with this game is how ungodly demanding this game is hardware wise, if you think you can run this game on absolute max settings with a 1080ti, 6 core i9 cpu and 16gb ddr5 ram, think again, further optimization from the devs would be nice, but even on medium/high this game is stunning.
this game is one of a kind and i would say if you have good hardware and LOTS of free time, play this.
id talk about the story, but its so good and so deep that i feel that if i say anything, id spoil too much. every bit of detail feels that important

for it being in EA its polished but has a way to go. while the start can be difficult, trust me when i say that your efforts get rewarded once you get past the first boss. the only thing i say this game needs so far is UI scaling and some balancing with curses

stopping family share wont solve the problem, because the problem this game faces cant inherently be solved in a way that wont either a) make the community turn against you or b) kill the game outright.
sure, ive had to make several alts because of hackers getting me banned but guess what, family share let me keep enjoying this 5 year old game because guess what From/bandai, people that enjoy playing your game will do what needs to be done to keep enjoying it. by removing the only way around your ultra specific yet vague TOS and ban detection, anyone that gets banned now will have to contact you guys directly causing more work to be done on your part to again, which most people dont wanna do because actually getting in contact with the support team is about as direct as trying to get help from steam support 3 years ago.
what you have done will ultimately kill the game, cheaters will just keep doing what they do because thats what cheaters do, sure it will deter a few, but those that keep plugging along will enjoy having the knowledge that if they inject invalid items into multiple inventories at once that they will have caused more turmoil and rage than normal because now, its either BUY THE GAME AGAIN or spend 2 weeks just trying to get unbanned, and with your support team being as small as it is, this process could take longer and longer until people find the effort and money not worth it and then permanently stop playing your game. and then the cheaters/trolls will have won.
you gave us the worst solution other than outright turning off the server
im not sure what would be the best solution, but im fairly certain this was not it.
enjoy watching the game's playercount steadily decline into the realms of Artifact and Demon souls.
