Nope. I can't recommend this game to anyone!

The fans of earlier games from The Last Stand franchise like the first 2 tower defense games or Union City and even gamers who loved play Dead Zone - the online version where you had your base and can go on expeditions for supplies or even fight with another players in their bases (you vs computer exactly, but with survivors of other player and their base (traps) layout) this is not a game for you.

It is a mid roguelite. You go on death expedition, where you need to find source of the Signal. You can't make it on your first run of course, you need to repeat the process many times to earn and use knowledge points (for skills upgrade), supply points (additional items for your next runs) and exp. After you find source of the Signal and kill the last boss, you can go on Hardcore level runs where you are earning new type of points to buy special type weapons.

I wanted to recommend this game as a mid roguelite, but I can't. Developers don't care about fans of Dead Zone and don't want to provide any information if they will sell the IP or share the data of the game. They only told that they are not interested in bringing back The Last Stand Dead Zone.

I played this game only to see how The Last Stand could look like nowadays and for zombie noises, they're somewhat iconic. I wanted to ask for a refund, but you need to play way more than 2 hours to finish this game.

Don't ever try wasting time and money for this crap game.

This is what Project Zomboid would look like if it were made as a turn-based game with a top-down view. In this one, you can calmly plan your every move, think through the situation, or realize that no matter what you do, it’s already over for you. However, in Project Zomboid, one bad decision, or worse, panicking, can end your life faster than you can push a zombie away. And best of all, I can honestly recommend both games.

In the game, you need to reach the last sanctuary called Terminus. While playing in early access, my most effective method was to get a car, a map, a shovel, and pray to find a driver—or choose that trait myself. By marking the closest possible travel locations on the map, I could cover a considerable distance at once with a limited amount of fuel. I was constantly running out of food, and even when I found more, it didn’t last long, so I had to hurry. It was a race against death. I would either die from hunger or be killed by zombies. The closer I got to Terminus, the more zombies appeared. Getting fuel at a gas station nearly cost me and my driver our lives. We made a few more stops along the way, exhausted, without food, just to see that we had no chance against that horde. If it hadn’t been for the fence, we would have died at the first stop along the railway tracks. When we finally reached Terminus, we saw a glimmer of hope for survival, but under the fence separating the sanctuary from the dead world was an uncountable horde of monsters. We didn’t know if we could get to the fence, climb it, and make it to the other side without being pulled down by the infected. We tried to lure some to the car, then eliminate those by the fence and escape. We managed to reach the fence, but our path was blocked by three zombies. Even if we got rid of them now, we wouldn’t be able to escape to the other side. We were overwhelmed by the infected. Suddenly, gunshots rang out, and light flashed from the windows. A light of hope. The zombies that had surrounded us from behind fell to the ground, and the infected blocking our entrance did too, giving us a chance to overcome the metal barrier. The people from Terminus protected us as we climbed over the fence. If it weren’t for them... we... would have just been more heads to shoot. That’s roughly how my first successful attempt to reach Terminus looked. Instead of joining the horde like those before us, the living triumphed over the dead.

With the new update, I can return and create more stories of survival and death in this world. I’m eager to try out the new mechanics, especially since this time I’ll be able to build more than a temporary shelter and give myself more time to reach the Sanctuary without worrying as much about starving quickly. The game is 100% free from DEI, and it should stay that way.

And most importantly...

AND I BROUGHT HIM HOME, SAFE AND SOUND. AND... I FED HIM SPAGHETTI!
