Honestly not that bad, pretty fun, even better with friends

One of the most underrated, if not the most, total wars. At launch, its true, it wasn't the best. It doesn't have any DLC or a particularly big fan base; but this game is totally worth it in my opinion, especially if you can get it on discount from steam or another site.

The Anno Domini historical reskin mod is fantastic and would recommend it for a vanilla experience, if you want something else the Shieldwall overhaul + V3 variation pack is pretty much the DEI/Grimhammer of Thrones and is great.

Don't dispair at the lack of DLC as the Conquest: 1066 is pretty much a free DLC but a mod and is also very good, covering the topic that would have mostly like been DLC anyway.

Overall I'd say a 8/10 unmodded
and a 9/10 modded or bought on sale

One of the most underrated and forgotten games of all time, I honestly cant really fault it, its very close to a 10/10, perhaps 9.5

Bland, Easy, Flavourless. Even when slathered with mods its still boring after a few hours. God ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ knows why they made this change to the war system. Wait a few years if you cant get it cheap. Paradox please go back on your war system decision.
