No avatar; autorretrato de Sir John Everett Millais (1829-1896); que foi um ilustrador e pintor; prodígio, aos 11 anos foi o estudante mais jovem a ingressar na Academia Real Inglesa. Millais foi um dos fundadores da Irmandade Pré-rafaelita, junto com Dante Gabriel Rossetti e William Holman Hunt.

Um grupo de pintores ingleses, a Irmandade Pré-rafaelita surgiu em 1848. Ele foi uma vanguarda artística que revolucionou a Pintura Inglesa.
Suas principais características são:
-Buscavam construir uma nova expressão artística nova, livre das amarras das convenções acadêmicas.
-Na Pintura, eles se concentravam em uma abordagem que prestava mais atenção aos detalhes e ao realismo.
-Tinham como objetivo a aproximação da Arte com a Natureza.
-Tinham grande preocupação com sinceridade, fazendo oposição a todo o artificialismo da Arte Acadêmica.

In the avatar; Sir John Everett Millais (1829-1896) selfportrait; who was an illustrator and painter; prodigy, at 11 years old was the younger student to join the English Royal Academy. Millais was one of the founders of the Pre-rafaelite Brotherhood, along with Dante Gabriel Rossetti and William Holman Hunt.

A group of english painters, the Pre-rafaelite Brotherhood had arisen in 1848. It was an artistical vanguard which revolutionated the English Painting.
Its main characteristics are:
-They pursue building a new artistical expression, free of the academical convention ties.
-In the Painting, they concentrated in an approach which paid more attention to the details and the realism.
-They had as objective the approach of the Art and the Nature.
-They had great preocupation with the sincerity, opposing to all the artificialism of the Academical Art.
