One of the best portal 2 mods. Interesting puzzles and suprisingly good voice acting. Respectable job and highly recommended for at least one playthrough.

superhot mcd is defficently not a bad game, but when comparing it to the of superhot, it just kinda feels lesser. if there was a mixed review option or something i between, that would be my option. Mcd while adding some new weapons (throwing knives being a personal favourite) and abilites/perks in the game which make the gameplay loop interesting, it also introduces some new stuff which seem cool at first and provide some type of challenge to spice up the gameplay like armored enemies or enemies that cannot drop their weapons.

These two in particular are fine as an addition, while on the other hand the the "bomber" enemy and the bosses and a bit questionable. The bomber enemy more often than not will prove an nuissance more than anything and will get annoying rather quickly. As for the bosses, they just dont fit in and are more annoying than anything, and the fact that the game doesnt communicate to you that these bosses (that appear at random) and unkillable doesnt help much either.

The biggest questionable design with this game though is its repetitiveness and the base idea of the maps designs and the gameplay loop. mcd feels like they expanded upon the endless mode from the original game rather than the puzzle like levels from the first game. Also you dont get the sense of progression like in the first game. in mcd you get these "nodes", which are basically your levels, and in each node you have to compelte a specific set of randomly selected maps, which may have some varying tweaks, depending on the node you play. this ends up making you play the same 32 maps over and over again as the game drags on, adding some small tweaks like throwing these armored enemies at you or the bombers. If you really liked the core gameplay loop of the first one you might not find this to be a problem but yeah, by the end of the game it will get repetitive for sure.

One of the tweaks though that is just bad and inexcusable is the "map shifting" some nodes have as their diffculty tweak. this maps shifting basically just warps and unwarps the map in from of you and you can see like 1 meter in front of you and the map is forming as you go. it ♥♥♥♥♥ your vision and your gameplay. its frustrating, its eyeshoring, its plain bad and should have never came out of the playtesting.

The story of this game is kept the same from the og one, thjough it doesnt expand on it and doesnt reveal anything new.And that is mostly intended by the devs and the meta story they were going for. The more you progress in the game and the more challenges you complete, the more the game makes you feel like a piece of ♥♥♥♥, with the ending being the cherry on top of this middlefinger cake. in the ending, you just basically delete superhot on game. there is a way to restore it by navigating some abysslike maze, but when you do actually get to the point you are able to restore your game to literarlly be able to replay it, the game tells you you have to wait for 2.5 hours (8hours at realese but they patched it down to 2,5 thank god). These are 2.5 real life hours of leaving the game open while just staring at the screen, all for the sake of conveying the "addiction" and "repetitiveness" of the story. i mean it might sound like a neat and clever idea at first, but then you realise you are making the player play the same maps over and over again for at least 6 hours with almost no sense of progression AND making him wait 2.5 hours at the end to be able to replay it and get their last achievement. For a game that's asking 25 euros as its base price, it just isnt it unfortuntely.

All in all, superhot mcd feels more like and expansion on the endless of the og game rather than a true sequel. While a bit repetitive and even annoying at times, the gameplay remains addicting, polished, and keeps things interesting with the added weapons, perks and abilities. some questionable design choices especialy on the porgression and pacing hurt the game alot and might draw people away from it, and understanably so.

Would recommend the game IF ONLY on sale or at least below 10 euros. The base asking price is not worth it for what is being offered here, but if you could get it on sale or a key online for like 3 bucks, it will be a somewhat fun time for its money and also a simple yet fun 100% achievement run, if you exclude the waiting 2,5 hours on the end that is.

in a few words, if you REALLY loved the CORE gameplay of the og game, buy on sale, if you enjoyed the puzlle aspect of the first, you are better passing on this one, or get it for 2 bucks.
