A good game with an old player base that hates children and themselves.

"Every beginner is a child"

Game: 7.5/10
Player Base: 3/10

I've been a DOTA player since 2007, I was in grade 6, good 'ol days. But that was DOTA 1, a Warcraft III custom map, this is DOTA 2. The game has grown a lot since then. As a game that I grew up with, I would recommend this, nobody wants to see their childhood game die. As a game in itself, yes, it is still recommendable. You can counter heroes with heroes, counter heroes with items, and so on. There are imbalances, developers takes too long to fix them that some say they're almost non-existent, but the game is still playable.

You have to set your expectations real. This is a MOBA where competition is beyond comprehension. Expectations per game are consistently high on all ranks, even in low rank games. You'll laugh in irony because teammates will expect you to be mechanically skilled and guess who's trash talking, a player ranked lower than you.
*As I was typing this, my player base rating got lower*

So as a beginner, you have to brace yourself, mute all comms, and focus only on improving. Develop your skill to ignore trolls and trash talkers, don't let them get to you. Some people get off by ruining other's day, yes, people like that exist even in real life, such sickness. I'm not saying everyone in this game is like that but if you see peaceful people in this game. Some are kind even if you are being stomped. Some encourage you when you make mistakes and gives you opportunity to fix them. They are rare, treasure them, and enjoy the game while it lasts.
