I don't get why would they endanger the game they were supposed to be developing like that. Weren't Ion Storm and Factorio already illustrated how minorities can be used and how passive the majority of sane people is?

After that, I can only assume that the new devs are these minorities themselves. Which means the game is in really bad hands now.

PS: Removing panty-shots was the right decision. Explaining yourself after and with "adjusting the game for modern standards" in particullar is a plain stupidity. Enjoy the outcome, devs.

The last itteration of the "franchise" started back in 90'es on Amiga that somehow didn't change it's developer and didn't end under a shady publisher - that what CoE is.

Add here no DLC's policy (there are free content updates), bugfixes after multiple years (CoE3 got the last one in 2019, and Steam doesn't show an actual release date) and a living original that spawned and will be spawning multiple clones\CoE-likes in time.

That's right. You have "4x" for Civ-like games, "TBT" for Lasersquad-likes, but not a single beatiful word for this one. So I would have to use more general terms like "crysis managment PvPvE" game to showcase the gameplay.

So, you do whatever you do in any typical PvP TBS - eliminating your opponent, but you are engaged with a ton of interference (both from RNG and Neutrals). This game is akin to Company of Heroes - you have "opportunistic" and "conservative" moves you have to balance in order to win. There are multiple Neutral factions spawning multiple types of armies with their own behaviour over multiple layers of map (10 of them currently) generated with specific patterns, too, which makes map exploration into the first basis of any gameplan. The second one would be how you compose your armies, because there are multiple rules, too (armor, "long" melee weapons, siege phase and so on).

That's pretty much it. You transfer your units, recruit and conduct rituals (if class allows) in order to fullfill these 2 tasks. Sounds easy, but just like I've said - the patterns. You have to factor them in every step. For example, let me spotlight some negative reviews: someone was travelling around for 10 turns, but suddenly got killed by a big flying kitty. The thing is, this one can't move over 1 tile (unless it's controlled by Horrors and some of your units are horror-marked, which I've never seen happening at the beginning of the game due to map-generation logic), so all you need to do is to AVOID MOUNTAIN\SNOWY tiles bordering Fog of War. Those are dangerous paths and you are risking by entering them. Again, you are losing 50%\33% of your mobility if you are to avoid. So, why not to send a single commander on them, because most of the classes start with 2, and then rescue\abandon him\her when ♥♥♥♥ hit the fan? A lot of negative stuff was being written about Infernal invasion late-game event as well. This one is totally avoidable if you kill cultsits spawning with the map itself on Hamlet or Farm tile, by the way.

Yes, you are supposed to know these and many more things. And players familliar with those get an advantage. It's tough on newcomers, but makes the game looks spectacullar for those aware on it's heavy ruleset. Of course, you can play on your own level - there are 5 actions, literally: to recruit, to transfer, to equip, to activate and to conduct - but the more competition you will get, the more of the game you will see.

Can't really remember when I have played this game before. Maybe, on my previous account (hel-lo to Steam Support champs), maybe in a bundle, maybe in Google Play.

Anyway, that was A LIFE worth of boredom. Clanky UI (you got the layout of this review, right? I gonna tell next how this game gonna be better; but, heck, UI didn't), "+1" to everything: +1 enemies in +1 dungeons that you need to beat on 2nd level with +1 gear, and bland, samish, no absolutely the same charting for any possible place.

Now, when I saw this masterpiece at a robbery price, I decided that it can be a Steam purchase (my respect to Valve, again). Hell, I was wrong. Should have got this on GoG or EGS at full price.

The game literally stole my holiday. With - like, 1/4 of Dungeon of Dreadmor's perks - it has 200% better multiclassing, a tirade of completely different dungeon layouts (mind you, graveyards with spawning zombies, road skirmishes, towers.. just see the rest for yourself) and hand-picked monsters' perks that DO feel different each playthrought, not only because you actually roll stats and have to adapt for every itteration, but with how they are matched with your own abilites.

If you are still on the verge, just read the wiki. See for yourself how different monsters in this game can be and how many ways you can have to splatter them all around.

Oh, one last thing. The humour. It's one of these games, when British humour isn't the joke by itself.

9/10 matches online meet the "Failed to establish connection" destiny.

It's ASW's fault. Their servers can't negotiate connection, because if you do happen to go past this step, you may have 20-40 ms of ping on the match.

It's clearly related to crossplatform testing. Their network infrastructure can't pull the weight, so the weakest of PC players that can't stand ruined evenings have to leave. Because it's already been lasting since the year started and there is no sign of improvement, yet.

But, hey, you are investing into the future! So buy now!

Early Access Review
This game is:

1) Very LBGT-friendly.
2) Not having any script ATM
3) Dips in extreme fetishes.
4) Slow on updates for EA title.
5) Can't decide what it's trying to become.

To 1) and 2): There are no soft-locks existing in this game. They offer you to filter out the content you don't want to see at the very begining (with checkboxes), but it only affects 18+ content. Male crew will still make their advances on you regardless of you choosing not to have any gay content in the game.

Pretty much every VN settling on multiple adult themes has those soft-locks, but it's not only that, of course. The very first character is just.. getting abroad the ship without any 2nd reason. Her very 1st sex scene starts with "hehe" and ends exactly the same. You can easily check that within refund window yourself.

On 3) and 4): the game got 1,5 content updates in almost an year since release, adding only more futanari and trap-related content. Why 1,5? Because the 2nd update is still in "early" beta (check the review's date).

5)... While this game doesn't confine itself within acclaimed genres' traits (like any adult game should), it bundles together too many things without a slightest effort to actually tie them. It's like you are playing a separate dungeon-crawler (a quite proper one even before the update), a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ VN and a barebones interactive RPG like King of the Dragon's pass. Literally everything advancing the plot is happening on the ship or within cities, while sex scenes can be triggered from the crawler-mode as well. They just didn't bother to integrate those two, so the best part of the game is just a mini-game related to the "great" text-based part. Just like that, there is a world-map, but no global events, no hidden values and your freedom of moves is limited by the current void and.. chapters. Imagine KoDP was divided on those - how many sense would exploration mode retain then?

------

In the end, it's just a porn-gallery with attached dungeon-crawler. You may as well go for one of those "Hentai"-affixed games. And you can easily find more defined experiences within the same publisher's catalogue.

Right now, this game has only two selling points:

1) You can easily access 18+ content in this one.
2) There is a lot of spicy content (which someone may find extreme) that isn't as common in other adult games.

PS: I'm playing ussing the offline mode, so you, pervs, won't be taking me for one yours.
