A great, if buggy, game. Highly replayable, lots of achievements to collect for those who want a 1000 hour or more investment, probably one of the most immersive mission select menus, just a great game. Shame they aren't making a sequel.

Early Access Review
Fun little vampire game. There are some weird difficulty spikes (specifically some bosses feel way too strong while others feel really weak) and progression can take a really long time, but the combat is overall very fun.
Building your castle gets to be one of the most fun aspects of the game (once you've unlocked enough walls/floors/decorations). Somewhere in act 2 things start to fall into place and make the game more enjoyable, here's to hoping act 4 will be even better.

Very fun short little game. Good guns and upgrades make it fun to replay even with the same build. It does take some time to unlock runes for higher darkness levels but it goes by fast enough to not be a burden.

While it certainly doesn't have the best gameplay of the series since Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring exist, it still has a great story and is still valuable to play through to better understand the series.

Amazing art, rewarding gameplay, and a whole lot of freedom in how you approach the game.

Let me get this straight, I love this game, but it has too many problems to be a good game. The concepts of this game are phenomenal and challenge the standards just enough to make it new and interesting, but it shares far too many of the problems that similar games have. Sadly the devs have abandoned this game, but there are significant things they could learn from this. 1. Always make single player an option. Too many times have I died because someone else left me to die or because the enemies weren't designed to be faced alone. 2. Only one money system. It's a glaring problem that to unlock anything that allows shell to shell conversion you need to be able to traverse the Star Cathedral, the final area, in which not having the highest dps and armor available means certain death. Just make it cost a hell of a lot! 3. Items should not = skill - This one is pretty self explanatory. If you give someone who just started playing a month ago an account with the best equipment they could probably solo the easier areas and easily survive the later ones. That isn't saying that skill doesn't matter, it's just that without good items you ain't gonna do ♥♥♥♥. 4. Strands, F*** THAT PLACE this represents one of the worst mechanics in games, stage one shots. For anyone that doesn't know, if you fall off of the platforms in the Strands, you die. Unless you have an insane amount of vertical mobility, you will die. Because as soon as you fall just beyond view of the platforms you take a lethal amount of damage, somewhere in the thousands I believe. 5. Probably what most people think of when they look at StarBreak's problems, Leveling. In StarBreak you don't carry over any form of levels between shells, making a huge amount of work virtually useless the moment you make one too many mistakes. Additionally, you don't gain levels by killing enemies, you get it from upgrades, which have a chance to appear and only certain ones will appear in each area. 6. Trade-offs. Unless you are in the lower level areas or a god at dodging, it is better to be wearing your highest armor set than highest damage. There should be situations where I don't have to be wearing +20 armor and +12 boots to survive and can deal some decent damage.
I know this is already a rant, but these are a few of the problems with StarBreak I found most glaring. I will reiterate that I do genuinely love the concepts and art that this game has, but I don't think it's worth playing through. You certainly have better things to be doing than playing a game where you lose everything.
