AAA publishers aren't gamers, they aren't passionate about games, and they only care about money.
The only way we're going to get quality games again is to get a LOT more people to stop paying top dollar for mediocrity. To stop giving companies exactly what they want exactly when they want it.
AAA devs used to have to earn their money over time, by releasing a quality game--along with a demo--that gained more and more sales as its quality spread by word of mouth.
Now they expect the majority of the market to shell out 6 months in advance for a game that doesn't even exist. Who needs demos?
